Black Label Bubble? đŸ«§

New Data on Current volumes and prices of Black Labels from the past 2 years on eBay.
I am majority looking at the volume of sales happening. Volume has shifted from an average of 206 (May 2021) BL’s in a month to 485 BL’s (January 2023), a 235% increase in volume.
Now because of this, you can see an average decrease in price per black label. This also could be the case due to people grading $2 Japanese ultra modern Art Rares that sell for $300+ (Diance or Drowzy from Vstar).

Regardless, this is something to keep an eye on :eye:

I also decided to do some research on searched google terms. Just to compare CGC and BGS searched terms:

I don’t know what sale or Marketing campaign BGS was doing during October 2-8th 2022, but their traffic increased 250% during that time.

I also decided to compare all the top 3 grading companies. Didn’t realize the dramatic spread that just #2 is compared to PSA’s traffic.

Sold!

I think this sold later because it was a weak black label 10, the highest prices are only for the stronger black labels

Im not saying you’re wrong or this doesnt happen but a “strong or weak black label” is the biggest oxymoron ive heard so far

All three initialisms are used in non-collectibles contexts, too, so I think a much more useful comparison is between “CGC grading,” “PSA grading,” and “BGS grading:”

Not nearly as dramatic of a spread. “PSA” is a very common initialism (“public service announcement”), which I imagine really inflates the traffic for that term.

I dont have a clue if it was the case with this example, but I have seen some people complaining about mildly off center black labels. It was just meant as a jab to black labels, with the great inconsistency in grading at these levels.

Ahh the infamous Niko Black labels. This adds an even further conditional rarity. The OC black Label

Curious to see how much this sells for.

Heres the jp version also up for auction. Not sure how this is a black label though as the centering is off left to right
