Unless the zombie apocalypse begins, it IS a 100% certainty that the BGS 10 1st Ed Base Charizard will easily outsell its PSA counterpart…as it should.

Now personally, I wish you were right cause I could save a lot of money when this card hits the market, which I will win;) (OMG…I’m starting to sound like Pokesyn )

How much more will it go for Nostradamus?

I would be incredibly surprised to see a BGS 10 Charizard that didn’t vastly outsell the PSA 10 price tag. Actually, that rings true for just about every noteworthy card. I have seen some BGS 10 cards that don’t catch much appeal, but they aren’t exactly paragons of the hobby.

I remember seeing a English Jolteon Gold star BGS 10 sell for around $100USD less than PSA 10 at auction, both auctions were within a couple of weeks of each other. Charizard as usual is a different story though

this is true, I monitored that exact card for a while. I think cards like that are best collected in sets (along with the other gold star eeveelutions for example) and isn’t strong enough by itself to catch enough attention in a PSA collector’s market.

However, Pokemon is a bit weird in the sense that it doesn’t perfectly mirror other sports hobbies. People actually collect OC/MC cards in Pokemon and they aren’t horribly devalued. So maybe BGS 10 is more of a niche talking point than I think.

BGS 10 for popular card like this one will make 2X or more than the PSA 10. If someone want to test it, please list it.

If that BGS 10 went on sale, I’d borrow from the bank and throw down 50k. Right now.
Then, I’d probably borrow from family and friends for some insurance money on top of that. This card will easily cover my interest rates. Trust me. This is a smarter investment than getting a mortgage.
That card will be worth $100k in a few years. I guarantee you. It’s more rare than an Illustrator!

I sound a little overzealous, but just wanted to contribute to the conversation. I agree with the strong sentiment that there are points of contention as to sale prices of a BGS 10 vs a PSA 10, but for this Charizard, I would put money down that it will sell north of $25k.

I do hope people give BGS more attention. I personally have bought 1st ed. BGS cards. I love the solid case that Beckett enclose the cards in. I do like the sub-grades too, although some people do not like it. Basically, BGS needs to get some love. Those BGS 9.5’s are good value currently.

Seriously though, I don’t see a BGS 1st Edition Charizard selling for less than a PSA 10 Charizard. Can’t even imagine how high it could go since a lot of people are waiting on it, if not anything but to complete their 1st Edition Base Set Charizard collections.

I think you’re kidding? I’d start my bidding at 25k.

Starting at 25k and $.99 are two different debates. Nearly every $.99 BGS 10 Pokemon card auction with the exception of your charizard (which also had the GAT effect applied to it) has gone for less than it’s PSA 10 counterpart. Heck you can search BGS 10 pokemon cards on eBay and find cards trying to be sold for PSA 10 prices, even though they’re supposed to be higher quality cards.

If it makes you feel better I wouldn’t be surprised to see it get a higher premium just because it’s a charizard. However, people that think ‘it’s a BGS 10 it deserves more money than a PSA 10’ are finding out that the market disagrees. I base my opinion on observations from the open market.

Theres is people out there that have alot more money then the average collector, and people like us who analyze psa 10 to bgs 10 comparison ect. All those people are gonna see is. CHarizard, Pristine bgs 10, pop 2. I MUST HAVE !!!

Never underestimate the power of the gold label bgs 10… IT is merciless and you may be able to get it on some cards you pull pack fresh from booster boxes that are still readily available… But try getting one on a no rarity, or a 1st ed shadowless card. IF you thought psa 10 was hard on those old cards… Your gonna have a bad time.
