Either of the Radiant Collections (Legendary Treasures or Generations subsets). They have unique foiling and holographic patterns, the Generations set has charms on the borders of the cards corresponding to the Pokemon’s personality, and the artwork is top tier. They’re also small enough (25 and 32 cards respectively) that you don’t get burnt out trying to fill an entire binder.

Those are the only two sets I’ve ever cared to collect, and I’ve enjoyed picking them up sporadically in person over the years.

The BEST set to collect is what you like. There is no better answer.

“Best” is entirely subjective - it all depends what you like or what your goals are. With vintage, WOTC 1st Ed is generally preferred by collectors and ‘investor’ types over regular Unlimited or other re-prints. On the other hand, some people just buy regular Unlimited for filling up binders and the nostalgia of it all as they’re more budget minded or don’t value the 1st Ed stamp as much.

For me personally, the best sets are the mainly the ones I wasn’t able to collect as a kid. This is mainly 1st Ed WOTC, E-Reader sets and then anything beyond this is all new for me. I’ve dabbled into Japanese quite a bit more as well over time as there’s just a ton of great cards out there as you get into the hobby more and more. Modern also has a ton of cool stuff now, some of the best looking cards in the entire hobby.

I would say starting out it’s best to focus on what you personally enjoy or find fun until you acquire more knowledge & experience. I wouldn’t collect any particular card if I didn’t find something to enjoy about owning it, it’s a very personal thing overall and everyone has a different approach to all of this.

I tend to gravitate towards newer sets and then singles I like. The latter takes some time to learn all thats out there. The former is convenience more than anything haha

Interesting way to talk about eras…

Collect whatever you like, keep in mind newest does not always mean cheapest, people think base and other vintage sets are expensive but a lot of vintage sets are cheaper than modern sets, at the end of the day it’s your collection and we’re just strangers online

for crown zenith

Crown Zenith is a set you’re statistically more likely to complete than anything else. You don’t even need good etbs either, I got 2 packs at one point and got 4 hits :sob:

sorry my brain just blanked as i was writing and i didn’t know what to say

wait what I got a whole etb and got 5 hits only including the promo

rebel clash is the best set to collect.

Yeah, CZ statisitcally has the best pull rates of Sword and Shield (and its really fun to collect!)

Really enjoyed mastering my 151 set when it came out (including all promos and the tin coins and ‘cards’). Makes me happy to look through it now and and compare the artwork from it to my base/jungle/fossil cards

Rebel clash is an excellent set but I’d say 2nd to steam siege. Or perhaps emerging powers.

Correct answer:
The one that you like the most.

Personal opinion:
I’ve enjoyed most new sets since I came back to the hobby. Celebrations, Brilliant Stars through Silver Tempest, Crown Zenith, Paradox Rift + Temporal Forces, Twilight Masquerade + Shrouded Fable, Surging Sparks, Journey Together + Destined Rivals, and Black Bolt + White Flare have all been fun for me. 151 was a cool set when it came out but I’m pretty over hearing about it at this point.

Celebrations, Crown Zenith, Journey Together, and Destined Rivals would be my absolute top picks from SWSH and SV series.

I actively dislike Champion’s Path and Prismatic Evolutions. I’m also not big into the shining Pokemon reprints sets like Shining Fates and Paldean Fates.

From old sets, anything Gen III / EX series is fun to me as that is what I grew up with (plus Diamond & Pearl and Platinum series).
EX Unseen Forces is my favorite set, period. I also really enjoy EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua, EX Hidden Legends, and the four delta species sets: EX Delta Species, EX Holon Phantoms, EX Crystal Guardians, and EX Dragon Frontiers.
Oh, and I’m partial to Fossil, Neo Destiny, and Stormfront too!

Why Celebrations? Not a rebuttal, but I’ve never seen celebrations so appealing, it’s like generations with makeup and a lift.
