Hey hobbyists…
Might be more impactful if your argument didn’t use 9 cards that are 100% correlated
Don’t ponchos define the entire Pokémon market
Depends on what you would define as a bubble.
I’d say it would be an excellent time to grab up all your favorite cards if you’re a collector. At least speaking from a vintage aspect, as for modern I’d be pretty careful on what you spend on. Looking at things from the outside in, anything can seem like a bubble.
welcome to the forum
Ps: Most of the cards on the list you shared specifically in my opinion are considered pretty niche, very expensive cards and tough to obtain.
I’d say none of these cards are niche
I really can’t tell if this is scarcam or a bad triple take
Well, from my own experience, I would 100% rather spend that kind of cash on other cards. Also have heard plenty of other collectors locally make mention of them not being 100% sold on the whole poncho style cards. From my POV, based on those reasons alone i would definitely consider them a niche item.
Not saying that they aren’t highly collectible or sought after.
This might sound more critical than I intend, but I don’t understand the appeal of the Poncho Pikachu cards. They are all the same card (same Pokemon, same pose, and same lifeless background). Also, the concept of Pokemon cosplaying as other Pokemon seems strange to me, like when people dress their pets in human clothes (no offense if any of you do this). Just curious if I’m alone in this sentiment, or if others also find them lackluster . . .
All jokes aside, they don’t do anything for me either.
One of the main reasons I mentioned them being a niche item. A few local collectors have mentioned not being too big on them and questioned it just as you did here. Not saying that they’re not cool to some people, most definitely have seen people go crazy over them. But, I cannot relate to the ones who go nuts over them. I’d spend 2 or 3 grand one some excellent condition vintage before I spend on a poncho card.
All SwSh alt arts are
Niche is like obscure promos for example, not the most popular Pokémon cards right now . Niche shouldn’t have price tag in the definition either, but just my opinion
If they have mostly decreased, why would that be a bubble?
Sell cards that triple wants and buy cards that triple doesn’t want. He tends to jump in at the peak for hyped cards.
Joking aside, I think the modern chase card market is correcting from its unsustainable growth over the past year.
Same. Even though I’m not a Japanese collector, I’d much rather collect the Scream cards or the Mario/Luigi cards. They have a historical/pop cultural context . . . that’s just a personal preference though. The Masaki cards would probably be my first target, now that I think about it.
