I purchased a Jolteon V sword and shield promo card from a seller out of Texas on eBay and the card came damaged. Mind you this was damage from the post office quite possibly. I took pictures of the damage and the issues with the card and ask the seller to just pack a little sturdier when he ships out the next time.
I didn’t ask for a refund, I didn’t ask for a partial refund, I didn’t ask to return it I didn’t even file a claim but the seller was extremely rude. I’m not the only buyer to have the same issue with this seller but I was basically accused of lying to the guy over a $30 card that I didn’t ask for a refund on. I was just trying to be honest and helpful to the seller as with all of us here I tried to make sure the next persons order came secure.
I’ve been collecting pokemon since 1996, and on eBay since 1998 with 100% feedback and in my entire time on eBay I’ve left only a handful of negative feedback in the same time. I don’t really know what I’m trying to get at, but with thousands of card purchased this is has to be one of the weirdest interaction I’ve had on eBay.
The seller ignored everything I said and gave me a 50% refund, but I never asked for one nor did I file a claim with eBay. Other buyers have left feedback expressing basically the same issues and his replies to their feedback are equally as rude. Overall the seller has great feedback I don’t know why this interaction was so negative. I’ve saved the entire conversation and have documented everything. Has collecting Pokemon really gotten this negative?
The card is missing ink on the front and was damaged, dented in. It’s apparent on the pictures that the damage wasn’t there when the card was listed. Along with the edges being crushed inwards. So you’re saying if the seller has sent me a card that wasn’t the exact card pictured but still met the definition of light play you’re fine with that?
And this isn’t what any of this is about, the package was damaged and I only relayed that info back to the seller who then was extremely rude.
That all fits within the definition of a LP/EX card.
It seems like you had a higher expectation of the card’s condition based on a small number of photos, and were disappointed when the card was not in better condition that the listing clearly specified it to be as per eBay’s rules. Keep in mind you had to shine a flashlight on the card, hold it at an angle, and get very close to show the issues. Maybe this happened in shipping and maybe it didn’t, you didn’t mention the package arriving with visible damage or post pictures of that.
You haven’t posted any of the seller’s messages so I don’t know if they were rude to you, but on the surface this appears to be an issue with you as a buyer. If I was the seller I would block you as a buyer.
And yes I mentioned that the card was possibly damaged in route. It’s literally in the original post.
So by your logic you’re saying that if the card, even if noticeably different and damaged arrived but still falls with in LP thats ok?
I wasn’t asking for anything in return, just asking they package a little better in the future. I’ve been on eBay for almost 30 years and that is absolutely not ok.
A seller who moves a fair amount of cards may look at their time as money and only be interested in process differences when scaled up for efficiency. What they do may work for 99% of what they sell but it seems they attempted to make it correct by giving you 50% refund and end the conversation to stop spending time with it. I think both of you arent really being considerate of eachother but it doesnt really matter too much because you got the card and a little bonus and the seller avoids negative feedback.
I’m curious how this damage was even possible based on your inconsistent story - sure it is the same card? You first said the card was outside of both the sleeve and toploader…then when the seller explained perfectly reasonable packing with tape on the toploader to prevent that, you backtracked and said it was “slapped up to the top” whatever that means? Your pictures show damage to different ends of the card as well.. if it never left the toploader, it’s hard to imagine it is damage from transit. For being one of the very first users of ebay, it’s weird to say you documented everything except probably the most crucial part of the whole saga which is pictures of how the card could have possibly been damaged in transit. You just have pictures of the bubble mailer which also show no real indication of mishandling if you have been buying online for 30 years…I record all my mail card openings no matter the value because you get wild packaging these days from novice sellers. Possibly overkill but it’s easier and safer for documenting what you would have needed in this case like…pictures of how it was received either outside of the toploader or damage to the sleeve / toploader.
I’m not going to judge your specific case and you may have had all the right intentions but you have to understand that most sellers have to deal with absurd requests and messages on a daily basis.
So much so that even the most apparently menial hints of a problem buyer will immediately lead to a block.
In a perfect world I’m sure most of us would love to take care of every single client, unfortunately we do not live in a perfect world.
Here’s my daily struggle, his reason for opening the case (3 days after arrival) translates to:
“I received my package but unfortunately I received it broken, without the card inside but with the broken PSA plastic case…. The card was stolen from it”
I have over 3000 positive feedback from sales, not a single negative. This seller has multiple neutral and negative feedback for the exact issue I had. I understand things happen understand sometimes it takes patients and hearing someone out.
Some people lose their cool easily. As the moderator who accused me of being un happy with my purchase left after I posted proof he asked for I’m not worried about this much anymore. I won’t take much advice someone who has as much feedback in their entire sale life time as I do in a day. It’s cool. I hope they have a good day too.
I know what it takes to deal with people. And that single interaction with that seller leads me to believe they had a bad day, if so I hope it gets better.
What was I hoping for.? If you read any of it I was just asking the seller to pack the cards a little better. That’s all not for a refund nothing.
I’ve even posted the conversation and the damage of the shipping bag where the paper the card was wrapped in was sticking out of the bag.
I didn’t ask for a refund. I just asked them to pack a little better. And I’m not the only buyer that’s had this issue with them.
It’s the same card because the bottom right had two placed where the black ink is missing, exactly as in the photo the seller posted.
Yet mine arrived with a whole corner of the car visible in a crimped top loader.
The worst method to ship is top loader with a nasty piece of tape on the top to hold the card in. I’ve had a few cards get stuck to the tape and lost part of the top edge before. Team bags are your friend.
Back to topic - there seems to be something missing where e4 isn’t understanding what happened, or views it differently than OP. Either way, ebay garbage thread and real experiences has scarred too many people for life to side with buyers
