$375K Booster Box feat. Leonhart and Team Rocket RESEALED!

Agreed. I own a box that is worth ~$15k and I’d never get it unsealed just have it ‘authenticated.’ There’s so much providence on it that I’m 100% sure it’s legitimate. You can search the name of the box and the Google search images show the identical box with identical shrinkwrap with identical alignment of the logos on the shrinkwrap with the box being sold by D&A’s Card World. I have no problem sleeping at night lol. But then again, my box is $15k whereas a 1st Edition Base box is at least 20x more than that. And no one’s resealing EX Series boxes. 1st Edition Base boxes, on the other hand…

Ultimately, though, I have to imagine that it’s possible to authenticate 1st Edition Base boxes (and any sealed Pokemon booster boxes) with near 100% accuracy. We’re talking about something that was uniformly mass-produced. There’s no way for someone to reseal a box that would exactly mimic certain tell-tale signs of authenticity. The current methods of authenticating booster boxes are underdeveloped at best. There are undoubtedly more sophisticated methods that could be used to authenticate vintage booster boxes.

People saying that sealed vintage booster boxes will be worth as much as 24 light packs + 12 heavy packs are wrong. Or at least this certainly won’t be the case once adequate authentication methods are developed. There are items that have been counterfeited much more sophisticatedly than resealed Pokemon booster boxes – and those items can still authenticated. I have zero question that vintage Pokemon booster boxes will also be able to authenticated with near 100% accuracy in the future.

—> m’y analysis a week ago was exactly this, that CG bought this box right at the same time they broke Logan’s or a day or 2 before and then he was going to sell this as a joint venture for 375k to the Dumb Money guys. And basically they were going to raise funds for 1/3 of the box technically giving them 125k “ownership” so 1/3 of the box while raising the actual box costs with fractional ownership (which assuming he paid 150-155k they raise 125k to give up 1/3 of the box and essentially purchase their shares for 30k or 15k total which is a steal lol)

—> Chris Camille and DM aren’t idiots like has been mentioned here a dozen times. In that thread I was just trying to paint the picture that these guys are exactly that, not dumb, not naïve, and actually serious sharks in the game. A deal has to make a stupid amount of sense in their favor for them to get involved on something like this and CG (and his crypto partners or boys) would have not been looking to directly profit off the DM guys. They’re just content being in the same room with them and the opportunity to partner in on a venture and promote a new blockchain based type of venture (the rally rd venture)

—> wether this was staged or not, no idea. The only “conspiracy” tin foil hat type of scenario I can think so would be that on the mission to source and scout for 1st edition boxes, it was quickly realized how difficult it was, assumptions being tossed that there’s only a couple dozen “left” / but ultimately like it has been much debated on this forum, there will always be that what if? And the unknown variable of actual supply and absolutely nothing proving there isn’t someone with 10,000 boxes who releases them very carefully and slowly into the market bla-bla-bla … once you realise this is actually a big problem and a big !!! Type of situation, this is no bueno for real $ and fund money and anyone looking to trade in a market.

So what comes next? What can we accurately speculate on and at least gauge a certain amount of numbers for? PSA 10s (slabs) and pop reports. Numbers especially the 9s are definitely skewed as we are all aware but the 10s are a good way to benchmark the value and popularity as well as supply of a certain card.

The other problem you encounter when trying to seriously analyse this market is that you have SERIOUSLY and genuinely split opinions among collectors who prefer the sealed over the graded slabs and this has long existed. So how do we get the one option that seems much better to actually speculate on and trade on (which proof in the pudding should be the OGs here who have 7 figures portfolios in slabs while having always stayed away from sealed) they must have seen something or done enough math or have enough experience to have realised long term the sealed is too high risk and volatile on expected value vs. The slabs.

So we need to find a way to destroy consumer confidence on sealed and begin to push the agenda further on slabs and their place and role in the investment side of the hobby.

^^ now even for me, who has seen pretty much everything in my life, and who is both raw and transparent as a person as well as seriously open minded… I find it hard to believe someone or a group of people could be so calculated and methodical and pre emptive into creating such strong movements in a cardboard children’s game market lol…

^^ but you also see the specific group of people who are suggesting all this and trying to showcase the value or importance of the role of slabs over sealed. And the others who want to argue the EV of sealed just goes up. There’s just no winning this argument (right now at least and for the last 10 years)

—> CG got too comfortable, too quick, went a little bit too fast and got well got. DM guys never exchanged money and as I mentioned above my anticipation and gut really was leaning towards my analysis. DM knows the value they can bring to both the market as a whole and the swings they can create for which CG also has an interest to entertain and lobby so it would make sense if they actually got free or pretty much free equity or skin in the game for nothing.

—> I hope he gets his $ back / situation is resolved because that’s not a small chunk of change 100-150k to be burnt for… people can do some pretty crazy things once forced into such situations with their backs against the wall… good luck to him and them all (assuming this is not staged), no one deserves to get burned like that.

—> as for LeonHart I mentioned it a few weeks back, he started peaking on views again and watch time on analytics but now with the shift in people coming in daily who have serious followings on their main channels, it’s going to be very troubling times for him again if he doesn’t innovate and pivot beyond what he originally did do offset his views and market share of YT he was losing to guys like Rev and stuff. So he started doing the whole graded stuff and talking numbers to attract the older viewers. Now you have guys with 7-10M subscribers on their channels, 20-30k twitch subscribers, etc. Opening second channels just to open Pokémon because why not? It’s fun it’s content and there’s $ to be made. There’s a guy who streams mine craft who created a channel like a week ago he’s already at 100k I think lol and is pushing for 1M by end of year…

So it only makes sense he’s trying to get his name and face out there and into as much things. Someone shared an article the other day that ABCGO published on Pokémon cards and the rush. LeonHart was personally interviewed to speak on behalf of the hobby and community. If you check who wrote that article and who they are and what else they have published… you can quickly realise it wouldn’t be surprising if that article was even kind of “forced”. It’s not hard to send an email and say you have a juicy story that makes for good content for someone to write about for which you can be used as a spokesperson blabla you’re a somebody in the space etc etc. Win win for us both.

—> tried donating $ to TimTheTatman to talk about a collab and it doesn’t seem to be in the works LootBoxTV has better chances at a collab with Tim

Etc etc. But good luck to him too and I commend the hustle. Not easy to be in a situation where you’re income and career is potentially at risk.

The way his story changes through out seems suspect as.

If anything the value on mint boxes just went up compared to boxes that show any sign of wear.

More and more it looks like CG has a hand in it.

He now says he was refunded and is getting it from a different seller a new box. Huh? I mean how many lies can this guy wrap himself in. Sad.

Out of genuine curiosity–if it’s true that it’s very very difficult for even the most experienced collectors to authenticate a 1st ed Base box, how can we be sure that this Heritage box is legit?

You’re covered by their integrity policies on authenticity… but if it was ever to become an actual problem that started becoming more frequent, and at the same time there was just no official way to 100% authenticate the box without actually ripping the seal, I’d guess they would start moving away from allowing the sealed product to be auctioned off by them.

If Pokemon starts becoming a “problem” for them, I’d bet they would pull the plug on the offering real quick. Their reputation and integrity is a million times bigger and more important than a couple fees for what is pretty niche among all the products and categories they auction off.

Yeah, you can’t put a price on what buyer trust means for them as a business and it’s certainly more than house fees on a 300k item

If I were Leonhart I would not go back and be apart of this again when they find a ‘new’ box. Poor guy has his name associated with this

The minute CG takes the box out of the case and mentions that the plastic wrap had scratches that didn’t damage the box underneath as if it was a good thing made me laugh because that was a HUGEEEEE indicator of a botched reseal. Even the slightest scrape on the plastic leaves nice little gouges in the box that is easily identified when you shift the wrapper side to side. Never mind the top display flap fold being hyper extended to the moon and floppy as hell when they opened it.

take 5 minutes and watch some of this video (or all of it if it interests you!) of the behavioral psychology related to lying. the guy in the link just murdered his family hours before walking around his house with the cops pretending to now know where his wife is, so it’s not directly comparable in severity… don’t get me wrong. But he is demonstrating very similar observable traits and characteristics in his interactions that point to him not being truthful with regard to what is going on around him. it’s a lot of very high end cognitive borderline sociopathic decision making. It’s really disturbing how similar it is to how CG behaved, especially when trying to state that the box was in a safe for 20 years, as well as forcing the person opening the cards to reveal more packs until the repacked cards came up for his personal video to pick up a pack and state how it’s a big problem that he had nothing to do with.
You can learn a lot just by observing. Sweaty head aside… he is up to something internally.

Welp. Someone decided to do a closer look at their Fossil box after today’s video and it was indeed fake resealed in a similar manner as well with the bubble wrap on the side. Hopefully not the first of many but at these prices there is a lot of incentive for scammers to expand into WOTC wraps.

You just know there have been people taking advantage of this, especially in this climate with such high prices and so many new people in the hobby who are desperate to grab a box as an investment. This environment is ripe for awful humans to do awful things.

Yikes. Surely it can’t be that hard to figure out the source of these (at least the first “secondhand” source) since they all seem to be sealed with the same seals… right?

I just decided I’m not going to be buying any more vintage sealed product
