Any Ultra boxes being restocked on any websites in the UK? ~
What a scum bag!
Finally completed the set last night, took about 200 packs. Last 3 cards were Magikarp, Lele, and Xerneas EX. Also pulled 2 extra SR Mew and 1 extra Charizard.
Spent the morning on Friday hunting for UPC and Pika Figure boxes, my closest Targets had nothing new stocked at open, neither did any within 20 miles south of me. Randomly ran into a Walmart I saw on my drive and found a vendor stocking. No UPC but got the 2 Pika Figure boxes I wanted and an extra ETB. Collector Chest preorder came from Pokemon Center too so I have all the promos accounted for, save the UPC ones.
Had a ton of fun opening all of the packs and boxes, easily my favorite set of all time, but I don’t have much of a reason to open it anymore (would like 1 more Umbreon but should be an easy pickup eventually). Gonna store some extras away to open on the 30th and probably 35th anniversary.
Hopefully eventually I can find a UPC at MSRP!
As someone on Reddit stated, “Seeing this genuinely makes me sad… trying to sell at 2.6x retail.”
Scalping sucks. I’m taking my chances on snagging a UPC at MSRP as they will have more shipments to stores/online. On the other hand if someone spent the 2.6x MSRP it will be money well spent in the long run on a unique metal charizard and pikachu that are base set reprints.
The metal charizard and to a lesser extent the Pikachu are going to do very well on the long-term seconday market unless they print them like ancient mews. But there are other cards in life I want for the $300-400 the UPC costs right now.
Heres hoping the metal cards will retain their finish long-term. I might need to put on some gloves when handling to prevent tarnishing down the road haha.
Yep, and I was just thinking back at how easy it was to collect Evolutions and 20th Anniversary sets ~ But surely the Pokemon Company will announce several reprints ~
Leonhart slid into my recommended videos again…big fucking lol when he said “worth over ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!” about the UPC.
Hear that kids? The UPC is worth over one hundred dollars! That is a lot of money little ones, but it is SO WORTH IT (*msrp, 400$ on TcgPlayer) now is the time to get your hopes up and ask daddy!
Yeah. I noticed some have “goldening” issues right out of the box. Not sure how they’ll hold up long term. Would be nice to get a graded set someday. Encapsulation might be the key for preserving their finish for years.
Finally got to open up some Celebrations that weren’t duds (only found a single Dragapult box before yesterday, and both packs inside were complete washouts)!
Pulled SR Mew & Dark Gyarados from a couple of mini tins, and an etb, that gave me a ton of minor hits (no exciting reprints)…and a full art Pikachu with an ink splodge on the corner type symbol. That was a pretty cool addition to the error collection.
Any ideas on how to get an Ultra Premium box in the UK outside eBay? Just simply wait for the next wave?
CardMarket perhaps? Although most are about the same price as the ones on eBay, for me as European it saved me on import fees (and time). I didn’t see any UK sellers just yet though, so even if you buy within Europe you’ll still have to buy import fees since the Brexit I’m afraid.
Greetz,
Quuador
Magic Madhouse are running a lottery for their allocation. It ends 28th at midnight. Probably yours and my best bet at the moment for grabbing one at retail.
Woah I see, but thanks a lot, Quuador
Thanks VERY MUCH :3
I’ve given up getting a UPC or any celebrations for near RRP. I ent to London comic con and they all bumped the prices too! Unbelievable.
Guess I’m sticking to vintage, as modern is just too expensive now days.
What is your favorite card from the Celebrations set?
The Kyogre artwork where Kyogre is surrounded by colorful coral reefs, Team Aqua Matt & Shelly, absolutely stunning.
