Hey guys, with Evolutions coming out and me wanting to collect the entire set, would it be cheaper to buy one box of 36 and then buy the rarer cards as singles, or just buy the entire set as singles. What do you think?
Really sucks that the Japanese 20th anniversary evolutions set is like so expensive now =/
The print quality of this set is actually impressively good for the English Pokemon TCG, and especially TPCiās recent standards. And Iām not even the kind of person who usually cares and rants about this every time a new English set comes out and the quality seems worse than ever.
So far my experience is different. All of my Full arts & Holos are off center L>R & about half my holos have factory scratches (only 4 boxes so far, but not the best for me)
I find it to be exactly the same quality all other English sets have. Jagged corners, centering issues and a nostalgic hint of factory lines in the holo. Not once have I seen any other XY Holo Rare have factory scratches. So in other words, this is one of the lesser quality sets; unfortunately. Maybe with Sun & Moon they will change the 2003 rollers and blades theyāve been using.
For me the last few XY sets have been pretty noticeably poor. Lines down the surface of the card, really bad misalignments, etc. The cards and even the packs themselves just feel and look cheap. I didnāt notice any of that while opening my box tonight.
I remember reading on Pokebeach that they were using a different kind of paper in Evolutions to emulate Base Set, and the cards were noticeably thicker/sturdier to me, and the packs actually opened nicely without falling apart (I like to save one of each pack artwork, but opening up the packs nicely to save one of each has been a nightmare for the last few sets before this ā usually, my ex had to do it and sometimes even he couldnāt). Didnāt notice any bad miscuts or random ink blotches. The top back corners I admit were the only thing I did notice but they werenāt any worse than usual for the English TCG.
My korean cp6 cards are of insain quality. they hasve like this lamination on them. There not like the english. Theres no chipping and its really crisp for some reason⦠wtf is happening
Just checked the backs of the holos and secret rares and there is no whitening, no like dents, or chipping. Just crispy gem ecactly like japanese cards
Unlimited boxes donāt exist. Everything here is 1st ed, including their restock which I believe is a reprint without them removing the 1st ed symbol cos why not.
A lot of people thought they were reprinting (as the pokemon center website suddenly got a restock of boxes which has never happened for sold out cards on their site before). Mohsin Ali bought 50 of them believing they were unlimited. I sent an email into the center and they replied saying all were 1st ed. Either they held back stock for hype, or they actually reprinted with the 1st stamp to avoid having to redesign everything. There are no pictures of boxes without a 1st stamp that Iāve seen.
