They seem to be following the Japanese set really closely in terms of layout, so I would assume (or hope) they’ll use the galaxy foil. Starry would be cool, but I doubt they’ll do that since they didn’t make any other English Base Set-ish changes.
I wonder if Nintendo doesn’t have rights to the Wizards original layout, or if it was just less effort to keep the Japanese design.
Oh, now I get the set symbol. At first I thought it was kind of odd that it looked like “XX”, considering this set is part of XY and everything. I was in the car an hour later and realized, duh, roman numerals, 20 years.
I like it, it’s a nice logo. I don’t know if it’s supposed to be subtle or if my brain just isn’t working today.
Actually, I don’t believe this to even be a scan. It’s probably straight from the digital art department or whatever - not sure on the holofoil process but I imagine it’s added in production. So all is not lost, yet!
Also, comparing these two images (which are both straight from the Pokemon website) we can see that neither have visible holo patterns. And the Black&White Charizard has a pretty noticeable holo pattern. All is not lost for the Galaxy foil!
oh god should I buy a bunch off ebay? will the distributors get more? what if they make an unlimited run? should I invest more money into this set!? time is running out! oh god!
Ah yeah, in my observation, the flow of product availability is: Distributor > Business > Buyer.
Basically when distributors are out of stock, whatever stock exists with businesses is all that remains. CP sets typically sell out quicker than regular sets. However, I can’t remember another set selling out this quickly.
With that said, no confirmation if there will or won’t be an unlimited run.
