1st ed base set zard

I remember when people thought I was crazy posting this. A PSA 9 1st Ed Charizard just sold for 19k. Vintage will never stop going up but modern will. Believe that

Damn! I wonder if the 8 will have another surge in price if the 9 starts selling 20k

@dalewilliamson with this sale, 8’s will probably be around $12k now.

Yeh 12k sounds about right! I’m sure there’s an 8 on ebay up for 9.2k or best offer, we will see how quicky that gets brought! Maybe a bargain to be had!!

$9250 seems more right.

Hey it’s a weak 8, what do you know it’s an old cert (I kid… kind of).

Just to add fire to the pot, new certs are absolutely stronger. It’s glaringly obvious. It’ll be a common known fact in a few years. It just takes time.

Anyways, back to topic. Dare I say this Zard is going to 25k and will hover around there for a while. No large retraces. Pokémon is healthy!

That old cert 8 on eBay looks pretty strong to me. Is there something I’m missing?

they’re either joking or uneducated :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks strong to me to literally can’t see the weakness in the card other than the low cert!!

couple of edge dings that are kind of pronounced, but a normal 8 i’d say. yeah, if 9 is approaching 20k, an 8 is hands down 10k+. this listing should be a steal once someone picks it up. there’s gonna be fomo…

Referring to the 8 on ebay for $9200, I think there is dirt on the card. It has very clean back edges but you can see the dirt specks on the surface against the yellow front and also on the back. There may also be some scratching on the back of the card, middle left. If that scratching isn’t really there, or if that’s also dirt, then someone could possibly get a nice bump by buying it, cracking it out, then cleaning it and resubmitting for a 9. Seems risky to me but may be worth it to try and get thousands in arbitrage?

If they do they have to be careful. I did that with a raw shadowless charizard. I used a microfiber cloth and a dab of water. It got the dirt specks off but the water caused the card to split in layers near the top… Was very disappointed but at least the card was cleaned.

I try and wipe down almost all of my cards regardless of intent to grade or not and this has never happened to me.

You don’t give your cards a bath like bobbles does. You’re probably more of a have your cards take a shower guy.

I was waiting on a “bobble” bath pun lol

It could have split for other reasons but that’s just my guess. I did reseal after I wiped down the card so it may have not fully dried before sealing which may have been where I messed up.

This is just insane to me, as someone who’s just got back into the hobby after years of not being involved and only really collected psa sparsely years ago, I couldn’t ever imagine a 9 Zard hitting these prizes. I remember when 10s were going for like 7500 lmao

When did you get back in the hobby/when did you leave? Its been a little bit since they were at 7500. In all honesty, Charizard was a ticking time bomb as far as pricing went. As long as Pokemon is relevant this card will be the king of set cards and price in my mind will always be justified.

About 2015 ish, just fell out of the hobby and then got back into when the new pokemon dlc came out. Yeah for sure, no doubt this price will sky rocket in the following years. Hopefully, pokemon will be relevant for years to come!

There also seems to be a ding to the top right edge on the front.
