yeah, quite a joke. hope no one actually sells him one.

130 is the number now. I’m getting a bunch of offers right around there (not selling though),

If $130 is the number now for 10s i assume 9s are going to slowly move towards $30.

We already had someone in this thread saying they rejected an offer of $27.5k for their 9. Nothing “slow” about this, it would seem.

Abit salty that the ONE card in my collection that had mold grow on it was a psa 9 1st base charizard

Life can be so triggering sometimes

ahhh no way!! do you have any pics of the card? see the damage!!

i don’t have it anymore, but its just a small white patch. it was growing on the case tho, not the card. it got cleaned up and recased as a 9 by the buyer.

The PSA 8 should be hitting 15K by the end of the year

i am surprised the last few sales on ebay were for around 10-12k for the 8. i think again this is where some of these offers and figures aren’t available/known to the wider public. there’s been a lot of activity happening in the hobby outside of ebay for these big items. to be honest, eBay has gotten pretty dry on these high-end items. not sure if this’ll continue to be a trend where people are doing business outside of eBay. anyways, with the 9s approaching and surpassing 30k pretty soon, i don’t see why 8s won’t hit 20k+ this year, especially when you get one that is super clean.

Understandably when tax for a buyer from NY or cali for example on a $30k card on eBay is another $2500 or so

I think he’s talking about this bro-tater, www.instagram.com/collectibles_guru/ who only entered the hobby in June since the prices started rising

yeah, ran into this guy’s IG account frequently. he’s definitely bringing visibility to the hobby, and i don’t really look at pokemon IG very much.

so no one is selling for $120k to him ?

He is scum. This guy will go all day advertising his cards, trying to sell them at record prices and then one story later he will talk about how he is looking to buy everything. Once you ask him how much he is paying it is going to be 60% of what he is actively trying to sell the same card at. This happened when he was trying to sell a 1st edition psa 9 zard for about $20k a few months ago and then literally in the same sentence offered me $12k for mine.

He is a joke lol. As soon as he buys that PSA 10 he’s going to be posting it everyday trying to sell it for like $170k or some shit, guaranteed. I doubt he has any general interest in the hobby besides flipping

Thats the thing, no-one is willing… its more so people are mad about the way he’s doing things… I think his offer is legit personally. I offered 100 for one, and heard crickets - and that was weeks back.

I’ve had a few prominent sports card buyers - million dollar + collections, ask me for a PSA 10 Charizard. And they aren’t flippers either. They hold and maintain a collection of pop culture significant cards as a hobby / perhaps a very long term investment.

The buyer pool is simply widening, and the new buyers coming in, don’t find $100,000 on a card to be that crazy.

This hits the nail on the head. Some people seem to be incredulous that the people with the Charizards are balking at selling the cards for 6 figures, but it’s just the new reality. There is so much new money in the high-end of this hobby and this is one card they’re all going for (it’s only a question of which grade they want it in). The big money people want the 10 and they’re running into the fact that there is truly a lack of supply for the card right now. We haven’t had a new PSA 10 graded in nearly 2 years and the existing ones have been falling one by one into the hands of people who plan on holding the card for the long-term. In short, there’s just a ton of demand running into an utter lack of supply.

As for the guy on Instagram being discussed, I agree with others that it’s in poor taste when he’s actively seeking to buy things at much lower prices than what he’s selling them for, and it’s pretty out in the open (although in some ways this is no different than say what your local GameStop would do). Having said that, I know he’s done a lot of deal-making, so I don’t doubt that whatever money he’s offering is legitimate.

He’s the same guy who has a base set 2 box on eBay for over 20k
