Funny enough, I think unlimited has probably had a greater uptick %wise than the psa 9? It boggles my mind that psa 6,7,8 unlimited is actually worth a fair chunk of change now.
Unlimited (at least PSA) is going up in prices pretty rapidly, especially the charizard. Stable supply, higher exposure and lots of quick sales.
Just curious. Did BGS set up thier game with grading or is it the same as before? Seeing 200%+ price differences in between PSA 9 and low BGS 9.5 (9.5,9.5,9.5,9.0) unlimited charizards.
I own a Zard and if someone is offering $130k for one it’s news to me. But that doesn’t mean that these offers aren’t real either, just not something I would be able to verify.
(Before anyone asks, I would not sell mine for $130k)
I have seen offers for the Zard on this very forum of $100k and $105k for one and I also saw an Instagram post of someone offering $100k for one and it seems that none of these people have been able to find sellers at those prices.
I can confirm I have not been able to find a seller at $100k. I also posted on FB and had some folks post on IG on my behalf, so that may have been the post you saw as well.
I don’t have first-hand knowledge of higher offers, but multiple people who were helping me source told me that their contacts had recently received offers in the 120-130k+ range. I don’t believe any of them had an incentive to lie, but who knows? Garyvee just bought one and Logan Paul reportedly bought 2. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were out there throwing around higher offers and reset expectations for sellers.
Yeah I’m not saying there’s anyone’s lying about these offers (although you do always have to be careful when people say they got offers for something without a confirmed sale… of course if you trust the person you’re dealing with then there are no issues).
At the end of the day, does it surprise me to hear that people are making offers of $130k for a Zard in the context of the current market (Pikachu selling for $7-8k, the box selling for upwards of $200k, etc.)? Not really. Even at $130k, Zard would still have less growth this year (as a % of its value) relative to many other cards in the hobby.
I think it’s important to draw a line where you feel comfortable spending and accepting that lower grades are okay too.
I suppose $30-35k PSA 9, 15-20k PSA 8 and a $10-$15k PSA 10 base in the near future. There is some inventory at those levels. Starting to feel like POGO Fall 2016 but environment is totally different.
It’s funny looking back at where this thread started just a few months ago when people couldn’t believe a Charizard might have sold for $75K. At this point if you had bought a PSA 10 Charizard for $75K even a couple months ago you would have done very well.
