Yugioh collectors

The Dark Magician girl MVP1 variations I purchased have all doubled or tripled the prices I paid.

Good for you.

Dark Magician Girl is not on the same level as Seviper.
DMG has more name recognition, hence the only reason I came across the cards on Ebay in the first place.
But then I only purchased the MVP1 variants because I thought it looked better than the other DMG cards.
So yeah it’s not about a single persons likes, in this case it was what I like, but more importantly the bet many others like it too, and the market increases as people discover tcgs outside their comfort zone.

anyone notice how hard it is to find yugioh 1st ed - GX collections? I live in Columbus OH, a market i would consider pretty large for trading cards and i have only found one collection worth anything and it was from a mobile home clean out in a small town on lake erie.

Got some great grades in a recent submission, thought I’d share. This is my first Yugioh submission from collections I’ve bought!

How do yugioh collectors store their cards ? is it in penny sleeves and top loaders the same as as Pokémon for best cards ? Even though it don’t fit and fly out easily. For binders I just use ultra pro deck sleeves but what I find strange is in the ultra pro sleeves I have from around 2009 and earlier they are a bit bigger a little more baggy and feel more easy and smooth to get in and out of the sleeve. Around 2014 seem more tighter and I don’t like it as much I think it wrecks the cards more especially taking it in and out and eats the sides away more. Yugioh cards seem very frail.

I prefer more baggy sleeves even if it is a little more prone to fly out, but not Pokémon/standard size sleeves. Which sleeves do you prefer to store your binders cards in or sleeves you use for top loader ? I know players choice is quite popular in usa but cant get that in uk.

Got a good sub back with just 2 of my prized yugioh card subs, and needless to say, very stoked on these! Pulled the Toon dragon from the pack myself many years ago. Always nice to see your personals come back like this.

I’ll probs be sharing a collection update on my personal thread later but wanted to share with the fellow yugioh players / collectors on the dedicated thread.

I’m a big fan of ultra pro pro matte sleves then into the monster binder. My extra holos are penny sleeved in deluxe edition boxes.

@dragonwarrior ,i think that the sleeves I have now too, but prefer bigger ones these ultra pro ones shown in this video but they don’t seem to do them anymore. I think the older bigger ones keep my cards in a bit better condition, its hard to tell for me as I never cared about collecting back then and mainly got cards for tournaments and played with them but do have a stardust dragon ghost and another ghost in the older ultra pro sleeves which luckily pulled from packs from entering tournaments and never played with them or got around to trading them , they seem in good condition around the edges and corner.I just brought some kmc yugioh size sleeves and they are too tight. a put a card in I took it out it can feel the card grinding on the edges and it made whiting on the edges.

I know what I like it Pokémon cards after alot of testing but seem like i need too do it all again with yugioh but new ultra pro seem fine for the time being, better then kmc for me

I know many of my local YGO community swear by KMC but I use Dragon Shield for binder cards I have no complaints about them. YGO do chip significantly easier then other CCGs due to the square corners.

Congrats on those stellar grades, my dude! What a great accomplishment to keep them so mint for so many years. I adore the OG Secret Rare holo effect!

Thanks @muk!

You know what’s hilarious? I played with the Table of Contents for solid year! In a tight matte ultra pro sleeve of course, but how insane! Not a spec of wear was incurred! I only expected a 9 at most, but here we are!

I also would love to have that gorgeous Yata Garasu you got, another of those trophies to get on the list for me for sure. I’ll be getting a few more of my fav’s graded in the future. Bickuribox anyone?

Already have a Yata lined up for that next grading sub that I anticipate I’ll be able to do when they open a year from now heh!

That nice I don’t know how I ended up with bigger ones. I just got the sleeves that were available. And ended up with smaller ones later as that was just available. Don’t seem as tight as the kmc ones I have

YuGiOh trophy cards tend to have the best arts:

  • Aggiba the Malevolent Sh’nn S’yo
  • Legendary Magician of Dark
  • Tyr the Vanquishing Warlord

Other than those above, my favourite YuGiOh cards are:

  • Magi Magi Magician Gal (drawn by the author himself and not released in English)
  • Potato and Chips (promo card from Calbee which is my favourite potato chip brand)

A dark beginnings 2 box sold for $1100 on ebay today. I’ve been noticing these types of boxes and unlim boxes creeping up recently (like unlim PTDN for $1500-2000).

I think this is a good price for anyone in the market for this box.

I just found some other KMC sleeves I have had for a while but seem to be same package and fit much better or not as tight. The inconstancy. I think its just harder to look after Yugioh cards compared to Pokémon more frail and the card sleeves dont seem as good and less consistent, also I have awful kmc perfect fit for yugioh , Pokémon size one are great.

I like the look and feel of the dragon shield matt white for yugioh even if a little difficult to glide in from texture of back from the inside. I see why players of all card games like them, they look and feel great in hand.

Sorry if this has already been answered or if it is common knowledge, but for 2002 sets, did 1st edition get a lower print than unlimited? The PSA pops on some unlimited cards I’m looking at are much lower than 1st equivalents. I assume this is simply because people are more likely to sent 1sts to be graded, but I just wanted to be sure; a card I’m looking at is a similar price in a 10 for unlimited as a 9 in 1st, and while I’m not necessarily thinking about resale value, I’d prefer to minimise the risk of buying something that ends up cheaper as the PSA backlog is cleared.

As you correctly stated, the pop report also reflects popularity. There hasn’t been a huge incentive to grade unlimited foils until recently. I’d definitely buy the 1st ed PSA 9.
