Yugioh collectors

Thanks for letting me know, because of the pop report I always assumed there wasn’t any 10. That makes the goal possible, still I believe that would be a nightmare lol.

Does anyone have insight into the pull rates of ultimate versions of ultra rares from the GX era boxes? Is the likelihood of pulling any given ultimate version of a super/ultra rare from a hobby box the same (1/11 since there are 7 supers + 4 ultras), or are ultimate rare versions of ultra rare cards harder to pull? I’ve opened quite a few GX boxes at this point (~7), and of the 14 cards I pulled, I have not pulled an ultimate ultra rare. Could just be unfortunate luck, but even looking at online booster box openings, I very rarely see an ultimate ultra rare being pulled, leading me to wonder if the probability of pulling an ultra ultimate rare is 4/11 (~1/3 of every ultimate pull across hobby boxes) or something much lower…

I have no clue but my guess is that if they were easier to pull, they wouldn’t be worth as much as what they are right now. Not saying they are overpriced but to me part of that is the fact that they are so hard to pull.
Kudos to you for opening boxes of these. If I was not a sealed collector I still would not have the courage to open these boxes for the prices they are at.

Continuing with the GX era discussion, are there any resources that contain the hobby vs. retail booster box and booster pack codes? I’ve been looking around and can’t find any comprehensive resources, just piecing together some stuff found on YouTube.

Loose packs I do not know but on boxes, the lower number of the 2 available IPC codes on boxes is hobby.

The booster packs’ IPC is always the box code + 1. So when you have a loose booster pack just subtract one from the IPC and you get the IPC of the box it came from.

That’s a good idea. I’ll try to get around to it when I have a bit more time and maybe can dig around for some more information.
Thanks @jyscal, I’ll add that to the list.

@bluerogue,

For sure. I will do my own digging these next few weeks and see if I can add anything additional to the list.

Just learned about this set:
yugipedia.com/wiki/Speed_Duel:_Battle_City_Box#Breakdown

It looks like Yugioh’s want to be Evolutions set? Interesting to see they’ve actually created a new format to encourage games with the reprinted cards.

yugipedia.com/wiki/Speed_Duel

Not really. Duel links became extremely popular so this was there way of making duel links into physical card form. There has only been a couple sets so far and hasn’t been one in a while. This set is a nice change tho as the other ones have been pretty trash in terms of actually cool cards.

Actually, what you are looking for is this battle city reprint set, which was released at the end of 2015: yugioh.fandom.com/wiki/Duelist_Pack:_Battle_City

I’ve been a huge fan of the duelist pack line since they started with the Jaden’s pack in the GX era. This Battle City pack is pretty faithful to that era and does include a few good toolkit cards for Toons.

The key difference for the set you called out is “Speed Duels”

Speed Duels kind of crashed and burned and was virtually tossed aside by Konami - I understand it never even got more than a cursory mention in the shows. Even during the CCG covid buyout during the summer, Speed Duels was really not selling well at my local Targets, and it seemed to be dying before Covid. I’d recommend sticking to the original game/vintage or holding out for the Rush Duel game release (I know, the names are basically the same).

Rush Duels is a slightly modified format from Speed Duels and coincides with the next era of shows (and seems to be doing pretty okay in Japan). In the past few months, Konami trademarked the term in North America - the video I watched speculates that we could see the ccg/show released in tandem next Summer (not exactly sure on the dates though).

I’ve been a big proponent of a Yugioh gameplay reboot for ages now, so I’m really hopeful that this could breathe some new life into the game (with new players specifically). My personal opinion is that the modern format has long gone off the rails (w/power creep, lack of resource costs/pacing (i.e., virtually any deck can play its best card on turn one), and silly modern card library (b/c there is no set rotation).

Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong on anything though.

Speed duel cards were rubbish, what you mainly get in a booster box were rubbish the ultra rares rubbish, who wants to get cards again from scratch when they are so cheap on the normal game. On duel links they mix old with new, I play duel links its fun they mainly bring out aninme deck or lore decks in their boxes online in the game, they didn’t do this with speed duels yet…the booster boxes speed duels in real life look rubbish too me .

But the speed duel battle city box is a good product. Comes with 6 or 8 pre made decks I cant remember to play with and 8 secret rare Nobleman of crossout and reinforcement of the army first time in this rarity and looks so good, as well as other classic. I think speed duel cards can be used in the normal TCG but normal TCG cant but used in speed duels
