Your first graded card?

This absolute gem garbage!

Purchased when I first got back into collecting. I had never seen/heard of a graded card and stumbled across this fella at shop. I didn’t even like the card at the time but it was $10 and I thought 'hmmm it cost more than $10 to grade so it’s basically a free card!"

It’s a fun memory

First PSA and first CGC slabs

My first slab was a BGS 9.5 Octillery from Neo Revelation. I still have it somewhere…

First two cards I ever sent off to be graded. The Charizard was a trade I got in exchange for a couple of beat up Base Set Holo. The Zapdos was a Craigslist find, at the time I had never seen the card before and couldn’t find any information on it.

Here’s the first card that I hit a PSA 10 on.

I had bough three 1st Edition Neo Destiny packs off eBay for $100. One night I was bored and opened all three. I pulled this Light Arcanine and a Shining Celebi.

Miss those days. :face_holding_back_tears:

My first was a Shadowless Charizard that I bought from the US sometime around 2005/6.

It’s battered, not correctly labelled (graded prior to Shadowless being recognised), and has an inner sleeve inside the slab…but I keep it on display for that sweet, sweet nostalgia.

That cert no. almost needs an archeologist.

These three were my first graded cards, all three bought at the same time from the same seller. I simply couldn’t find these anywhere ungraded after searching for them for 1.5+ years. (I have a bunch of other graded cards later on which I also couldn’t find raw at the time.)

EDIT: I’ve looked back, and apparently I’ve paid 46.74 USSD for the Chinese one; 56.74 USD for the 1st edition Korean; and 135.40 USD for the unlimited edition Korean. I only notice right now I’ve bought them from Gary, aka King Pokémon. Never noticed that before. At the time I had only just joined the forum a few months prior, so barely knew anyone yet.

Most people know me for Clefairy, and I do love Clefairy the most because a Clefairy plush was the first item I ever received of Pokemon and my grandmother whom I was super close with gifted it to me when I was 5 years old. I still have it and display it prominently

My first graded card I purchased in 2015

I got it for 8$ after shipping. PSA 8 back then was basically worthless

This was back when I considered haunter on the same level as my Clefairy love, and for many years on this forum I used a haunter gif with his eyes popping out haha.

I do really love Haunter from the original series and this card will always have a special place in my heart

First graded card I bought was a PSA 9 base unlimited Raichu, which I sold once I got into Japanese Promos. First 2 cards I graded myself were these. resubmitted the Pokemon Center and it got the 10 thankfully. I remember being so devastated when it got the 9 :joy:

Must admit getting results like this on your first try motivates you to move on with your collection.

This sub eventually paved my way to completing CP6 and all 47 Japanese XY-Ps with legacy layout since the toughest hurdles of the goal are already down.

I purchased this reverse holo squirtle and a reverse holo wartortle BGS 9.5 back in 2016 or 2017.
Unfortunately I don’t have photos of the both together, but I do still have them in my collection

$20 shipped on auction, still the most exciting eBay auction I’ve bid on.
