As a kid I fell in love with Butterfree on the anime, and playing Pokemon Yellow I really liked Scyther and Mankey. Way too many good options to pick just one!

Reading through this thread again begs the question… Are pokemon from Kanto variants? As in, when Ash takes his Pikachu to other regions would that make it a Kantoan Pikachu to other people, or where do forms originate?
In my opinion, it would just make the Pikachu as Ash’s Pikachu. I think potentially all Pokemon can exist in all regions considering it is a suitable environment. If you look at some Safari Zones in the games, the exclusive Pokemon seem to imply that they were imported / purchased from other regions (something like a zoo).
Maybe only regional variants are truly native to that region, due to evolution because of their surroundings. Similar to how there are African Elephants and Asian Elephants.

In the Sun & Moon anime, Ash’s Kantonian Pikachu stands out from Alolan Pikachu in Pikachu Valley.

Pikachu is kinda special… List of variants. In ORAS, the cosplay pikachu has a black heart on its tail, that might count as a Hoenn form but in the anime, they’re shown in Kalos…
Heck, there’s even a snow pickahu variant (april fools joke)
