I went to a fortune teller in China he told me : “do not invest in 2026”

I don’t know what to do about that….fomo is kicking hard in this beginning of 2026…

My instinct tells me to agree with it though….my future biggest collecting regret ?

My biggest regret is having started collecting 26 years ago and then stopping. I should never have quit. The collection would be impressive now without those breaks.

Not really a regret, because I didn’t have the money to buy more when I thought it was a good buy, but not buying more when I thought it was a good buy.

Gold stars, base 1st, crystals, munch, mario, poncho… etc. haha.
No sense worrying.

If you do and something DOES happen, you’ve suffered twice.”

I feel like the moral of this thread is

Time in the market is better than Time ing the market.

The major ones that really stick out for me not because what they go for now but knowing I won’t ever own them again.

Umbreon Gold Star for €300 (paid for a great holiday in Madrid thoigh)
Pretend Gyarados & Magikarp Poncho Pikachu for €250 for the pair
Flareon gold star Japanese €290
2014 Battle Festa Pikachu PSA 9 and later a PSA 8

Maybe I’ll get a beat up copy of the Flareon & Battle Festa after some more collection goals are completed first.

But those 5 haunt me to this day

Biggest one for me was selling a PSA 10 Japanese shining Charizard for like 3k back in 2018. In this case it was a blessing mingled with a regret because I had had that card since I was a kid. Losing something that I had had that long was the hardest thing, but it did help my family get a good start on life. I just wish my idiot self would have some research upon re-entering the hobby to realize perhaps that one was worth holding onto. I had no idea what I had.

it seems like everyone has to learn whats worth keeping and whats worth selling with a sad story lol. People remember the losses more than the wins

I should’ve picked up more of the 1996 CoroCoro Comic Pikachu promo when they were $15-20… Last PSA 1 sold for $300. Last Japanese Base Charizard sold for $220. Wow.

When I was getting out of any TCG around 2005, I gave all of my cards (which included some bangers, I had most of base set and neo genesis) to my cousin who didn’t even care about Pokemon. What was I thinking! Late 2024 I got back into collecting and reached out to see if my cousin still had my cards. He had some of them which he gladly gave back to me, but basically all the good stuff was gone. Thankful to have some of my childhood cards back though. Just bummed I gave them away in the first place.

I sold my Torchic gold star that I pulled personally to a guy in austrailia on reddit way back for 50 bucks. I miss that card immensely and wish I had never sold it; I had sell it because I needed the money for school supplies.

The best learned lessons are the one’s learned the hard way. For most people, anyway. :worried:

I feel yuh. I sold my Crystal Lugia for $80, not pulled myself, but bought from a good friend in high school for 25$. We fell out over a business thing years ago… I miss both immensely…
