Im not sure about what vintage card id pick, but when it comes to modern, for me it’s pretty easy: why this gorgeous Smeargle, with a lot of vibrant colors, it’s not holo? imagine it with orbs and swirls everywhere!

was hoping i’d see this card chosen. the card looks great, only thing i’d change is making sure the background is still prominent, as the holofoil seems to drown out most the beauty

This has always frustrated me since I was a kid! Geodue common, Graveler uncommon, Golem Ra… uncommon. 
As for a card, so many of my picks have already been chosen. But here is one that would look great if the sky was holo:

Me too! Golem was one of my favorites and nobody understood why. I thought it looked cool… and then I saw the Crystal Golem in Skyridge

Also can we appreciate how metal “Earth Bomb” sounds? For a hedgehog-lookin’ dude, that is one cool move.

This is the best one in the thread so far!
I dont like the picks of the early eeveelutions, especially those of neo destiny, they work so great as a non holo. The background would be too washed out.
The best pick would be a card which does not have an extensive background

We see this thread topic return every once in a while. I remember I posted the Moltres WotC #21 promo, my favorite artwork, in the first of these threads way back, and someone mentioned the Japanese Pokémon Web legendary birds are holo. Very grateful it was mentioned, since I immediately bought both a raw and PSA-10, which was basically the start of my Moltres #21 promo variations collection, haha. 
But, since I now know it does already have a holo version available, I’ll go with this one instead. Always liked this rather simple artwork personally, and I think its background would look amazing as holofoil:
(And I know we’re only allowed to pick one, but the WotC WB promo Electabuzz and Mewtwo would look great as holofoils as well. Luckily the WB Pikachu has been reprinted as holofoil already.)

One of the first cards that came to mind a cosmos holo pattern would look great in the sky as it would look like stars.

The white back combined with the often bad centering Dragonair has would make this one painful to grade I bet. I bet it’d be as low as Base Set Chansey in high grades.

Now imagine Jungle Cubone with a cosmos holo. Can you imagine seeing swirls in the sky? It’d be so cool. Even the regular holo would work with all the stars I think.
