Yahoo Japan Search Guide

you have to go off there potato photos and take risks.

Or you don’t need to use Y!J if you want “gem minty mint” cards and instead just stick to buying PSA 10s on ebay.

I have personally had amazing luck muhajahahaajah. But this is rarish I hear. 2 g star psa 10, and 2 gstar bgs 9.5 both charizard and rays ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Hmm, after lots of searching I still can’t find the answer to this: is it actually possible to search for old yahoo japan auctions, i.e. old listings history? I notice a lot of links of auctions just give me a 404 page in the forums, and it would help me so much to know what was actually auctioned.

Edit: Darn it, just revived a few months old thread. Sorry about that.

Do you mean sold listings? Yes, enter your keyword in first search bar and then right down the bottom click the left button.

Hmm, I guess I was used to how I found closed ebay listings that are “unavailable”; I simply used an item number. I guess it works differently with yahoo auctions.

For example, a lot of links in the forums are like this format: redirect.viglink.com/?key=bbb516d91daee20498798694a42dd559&u=http%3A//page21.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/j378382760

And when I click on those, I just get a 404. I assume the only way to get them is to search for the Japanese title of the card and check if the listing has been archived?

Yeah, sorry for bothering you guys for such an elementary issue. I’m new at yahoo auctions, so sorry about that

We all have to start somewhere mate!

You can search old listings, but only the last 120 days worth. (source: www.yahoo-help.jp/app/answers/detail/a_id/40787/p/353 )
There’s also some per-user photo limit, so even if you find the auction’s still there, the photos might be removed.

If you really want to dig into the history, there’s a third-party site (http://y.aucfan.com/) which claims to have 10 years of Yahoo auctions history, available to search for a $5/month subscription.

If you know an auction’s item number/URL you can ‘cheat the system’ and access it directly on aucfan, for example aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/j378382760/
But they hide certain things like the final price to make you want to subscribe.

I know this is a hair off-topic, but I figured it might be helpful to others as well.

Can someone help me out on how I would go about asking someone if it is a glossy card or non-glossy when talking to a Japanese seller? I tried to explain what I meant to the seller but they just got back to me saying that the card is not holo.

I had the same thing happen to me. I asked for Glossy/non-Glossy, and they said it was non-Glossy, so I bought it since it was cheap. Well, it was Glossy and when I asked again they thought I meant holo. Probably my fault for just assuming they knew and not explaining it.

Anyway, since then I’ll just show pictures of both a Glossy and non-Glossy card from the same light-angle to clearly see the difference and explain that Glossy cards have a plastic coating on them. Not sure if they understand then, but at least it’s easier than asking if they are Glossy/non-Glossy, since they just think I mean holo/non-holo (or kira/non-kira as they seem to call it).

Greetz,
Quuador

I would like to know this as well, please.

When buying YJP auctions and using a middle man what is the cheapest route to use for shipping? I have a friend in Japan, but he says most items to ship to the US from Japan via USPS is $30+. Thanks.

*sigh* I looked for this thread for an hour last night and couldn’t find it…

Lol I know exactly how you feel! I used to look for this under Articles & Guides until I realized it’s actually under Insider Bureau.

This is bad. I’ve been browsing Yahoo Auctions for past 3,5hrs and found so much stuff I want/need.
So I signed up on Noppin, found the items again… but… do they combine all auctions I win within a time frame and ship them out together, or what’s the deal there? Can’t really find it in their FAQ

Well to detail it for you here’s the rundown:

You have to put a minimum deposit amount for Noppin to work out, lowest I think is 2k Yen which is “roughly” $20. Off of those $20 they multiply it by 3. So you have a limit of 6000 Yen from the get go. Of course you can incrase this by adding more to the deposit.

Let’s say you win 2 auctions from the same seller, They will combine shipping for that order BUT, you still have to pay the Service fee for each (About 500 Yen), this way you save on Bank Transfer Fees (250 Yen each time). There’s other fees, like shipping fees they get charged additional, and sometimes taxes.

You have a 60 day Limit to stare as many auctions won and in the end combine shipping for all of them. (I do this, it is WAY more cost effective then choosing what you want at a certain point.)
