It is bizarre, supposedley in some instances unlimited japanese sets can be rarer than first edition. Is this true? if so, 1st edition sets are still valued slightly more?
The limited demand for unlimited offsets any increased value. The law of supply and demand. Because I may not ever get all unlimited cards, I will not collect them. Except for people who collect all cards of a Pokemon, I know of no one who collects unlimited.
Hoopa EX, M Hoopa EX (Hoopa Unbound EX w/same format as the primals)
-Reasoning: Duh. Now for the format. In the video games, Hoopa actually gains 80 points to its BST (base stat total), unlike normal forme changes like the Landorus/Thundurus/Tornadus trio and Giratina, which get redistributed stats when they change forme. This makes it more suited to the mega evolution card format than separate EX cards. Assuming its attack will be named Bandit Ring after the set.
Sableye EX, M Sableye EX
Let the hype train continue for new ORAS megas. Also could fit in well with the presumed Dark/Psychic theme of the set, which I believe @milhouse proposed. We haven’t had a Dark-type Mega save Absol as a promo. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe Dark is the only type without a set-based Mega.
Giratina (Origin-Forme) EX
We have seen lots of repeat EX cards, so why not Giratina? It’s featured in the movie, and we have not seen a Giratina-O EX card, which I bet would look insanely epic as a full art. This is basically just a personal want, but the Ghost/Dragon typing of Giratina would work well in this set.
Suicune EX
IT’S ABOUT GODDAMN TIME
Cacturne EX
Can fit with the Dark theme, or be a Grass type for TCG metagame balance, blah blah Seismitoad, blah blah. Plus Cacturne deserves some love.
Guessing holographic cards of all the legendaries featured in the movie. Hoping we will get some type of Shiny M Rayquaza EX promo card. (Be still my heart…and wallet)
I’m honestly not too excited. It sounds like a cool set, but the only card I’m really hyped for is Hoopa Unbound EX. That will be insane and I’m gonna need it in a PSA 10. My purchases of new Japanese products have increased with every recent set, but with this one I’ve just got 4 boxes on preorder for now, below my norm. Really depends on what the EX cards will be.
