1998 CD promo is very common name for the Japanese Pikachu Best Song CD with the 11 promo cards.

Yup, that one, thanks dude

These are pretty common. There are 1000s is copies of the graded cards in PSA 10.

The pikachu is never graded properly, right? I dont think PSA properly recognizes it as a japanese promo. Usually it’s just graded as a plain shadowless yellow cheeks.

Right. It’s easily discernible though by the feel if ungraded or the coloring if graded.

Gary I have to ask, is there any chance they would tell the cards apart someday? I don’t understand how the “grey star” pikachu or JR rally meowth can be graded correctly as japanese, but not this card. Is it really just because those cards have the tiny differences that make them easy to tell apart? The grey star and non holo pattern in this case.

The JR Rally mewtwo has the same issue. It will be graded as a normal english black star promo because it looks the same but different printing.

I guess it’s possible but it’ll take a real PokĂ©mon advisor to get hired on. Someone who knows and can discern the differences.

I got it for sale can message me

Have any huge Pokémon collecters tried to get hired?

I think Scott offered his services but they wouldn’t pay much at all. I could be wrong.

What would they have him do? Look at thousands of cards everyday or just certain ones? Either way, how can one person do the job unless they are willing to pay full time or something.

Sent you a PM last week. Still waiting for your reply.

A huge Pokemon collector probably makes a somewhat modest wage to purchase the cards in their collection. From what I’ve heard, PSA only wants to pay the kind of unsustainable salaries that a child still living with their parents would settle for. Maybe if they an score some bored, wealthy, retired collector one day
all of us will be in luck. But they don’t care enough to pay the price to put one on staff for a fair or remotely competitive wage. Personally, I think they should just have someone higher up that they’re already paying a modest amount to fill this need/ learn more. But that won’t happen either.
