Not only 10s and 9s, either! Apparently there are people offering $15k or more for an 8. Only a couple weeks ago they were being sold for $10k. Obviously this movement isn’t as large in absolute value, but it was still fairly astounding for me to see.
Unless I am mistaken, you have to pay 20% on top of the hammer price, and if a credit card is used to pay, 23% extra (at least according to the info I found here: iconicauctions.com/rules.aspx)).
The centering is borderline for a 10 but within the acceptable 60/40 range (meaning that it’s something that can be used against it for a grade of 10 but not an automatic disqualifier for a 10.
That nick on the bottom-right corner you’re referring to is reallllllly small.
Last point is that the difference between a 9 and a 10 is often something that doesn’t show up in pictures easily - any kind of surface flaws.
Overall I wouldn’t say this is a “strong 10” given the borderline centering, but it’s a decent 10.
I would agree that if it’s only flaw is that tiny, tiny white mark on the lower back corner but the centering is in bounds, it should be a 10. I wouldn’t call it strong but not weak, either. It’s better than all of the 10s that sold on ebay this year. Two of those were more off-center than this, one had worse back corners, and then there was the infamous “afraid to show its backside” card. I looked pretty closely at all of them when I was still on the hunt for one.
