Would you rather?

Why don’t you aim to complete a combination 1st ed/shadowless set? You will tick both boxes. I know some collector’s wouldn’t dare combine the two, but they are essentially the same card. This is what i’ve done with all my WOTC sets, and I appreciate the first editions in my sets a lot more as a result.

In the early days of my collecting i was a lot more OCD with my collecting goals, but to break that down over the years has been very liberating, and obviously more cost effective.

Take the higher grade. I started with a 1st ed charizard psa 7 in 2014 and loved it but over time the grade started to bother me. Now I have a full 8/9 set of both 1st ed and shadowless. Just couldn’t stop me from doing both. If you are going to get a chansey then I say do 1st ed because the shadowless one is gonna cost almost as much due to scarcity. I do love the big #1

I’d go 1st edition shadowless Psa whatever number you can afford. There is so much attention to 9’s and 10’s and yes they are the best but there is nothing wrong with 7’s or 8’s. Anything 6 of lower takes away from the appeal to me so I rather have the same card in a binder. So I’d simply buy ungraded or crack the case. Which cracking the case almost seems like a waste but at the same time that low grade does throw it off quite a bit. But if it’s a PSa 1 2 3 or 4 condition than the psa case is probably holding the destroyed cards together. Also side note be happy with those grades and congratulations. Other side note the brunch with your cards bit had me laughing so hard haha  but at the end of the day whatever you want to do no need to ask us

You know, it’s only 32 cards and both sets are great collectibles. I say, go for them both. It’ll take a little longer, and cost about double but just imagine how they would look on display:)

Thanks so much for your input. I didn’t expect so many responses to the noob haha. So thanks!
I guess there is no obvious choice. I will mull it over and keep you updated with the route I’ve gone with!

Damn

Would you be fully satisfied with the shadowless? If it were me i’d love the shadowless, but would have to get the first editions at some point after. So for me I’d go for the first editions first.
