That’s interesting! I’ve never thought to look up what a shiny Butterfree looks like as I’ve always assumed that was one. Perhaps the pink one escaped from Pinkan Island?
My favorite Pokemon rotates every once in a while, but one that stays constant that is not usually super popular is Raichu. The first Pokemon game I played was Pokemon Yellow and I remember having a Raichu that was basically a giant electric Snorlax. I had jacked its defense and HP up so high that it could sit in battle basically forever and not die, and it had “Rest” as a move.
The trainers in Destiny Deoxys literally had the coolest teams. The opening double battle featured Blaziken and Blastoise, and Rebecca had a Metagross and a Tyranitar. (also, as much hate SWSH deserves, Metagross flying behind you is so hype.)
I have always loved the concept of creatures hatching from Eggs in video games, and I think that started when I was around 2 years-old and got to play Spyro for the first time. The discovery of Pokémon Eggs as I started playing the main series games was one of amazement. I remember putting Pokémon in the Day-Care and for the old man to start giving me Eggs. I was really shocked by how two completely different species of Pokémon could result in Eggs, and my interest in breeding has been present since then.
It just so happens that there is an Egg Pokémon, Togepi! I also really like Misty in the gold-era anime, where she was carrying around Togepi. In Pokémon Crystal, Platinum and HeartGold & SoulSilver, you are given a Togepi Egg and this was one of the coolest things ever. Especially as Togepi would evolve into such a strong Pokémon as Togekiss! These childhood memories that over time developed into competitive battling in the video games made me like Togekiss and the whole evolution line just as much, but over a decade+.
Fast forward to today and I am on a mission to collect all the cards.
A mummified, cycloptic black hole eating banded Head Smashes for breakfast and plaguing everything in sight with burns and trick rooms.
He evolves from death incarnate and evolves into the spirit portal. He beat Ash’s Charizard to a pulp in the anime.
He’s difficult to use competitively. In his debut generation, his only big niche is as an impenetrable spinblocker on dedicated hard stall teams. Extremely matchup-dependent. When Pursuit, Taunt, 101 substitutes, Calm Mind sweepers or multiple layers of Spikes are in play, Dusclops is pretty much fucked.
Also, as a purely defensive ghost type, he has access to a lot of fun, nasty moves you don’t see too often, like ghost-type Curse and Spite.
My favorite pokemon is Raichu because of the Lt. Surge “Lightning American” gym battle episode. Im a big fan of wrestling and Lt. Surge/Raichu feel like your typical wrestling heels. While pikachu essentially cut a wrestling promo when he refused to evolve. Classic!
So we assumed Ash’s buterfree fell in love with a female cos it was pink, but pink doesn’t have to be a femenine color at all. GuessAsh’s butterfree just liked some T-frees iykwim
Welcome back after 3 years with a 4 year bump… But you didn’t answer the thread’s title/topic… It doesn’t state which Pokémon are your favorites, but it states WHY those Pokémon are your favorites…
Story I have with them: Is WEIRD … Unlike most of you, I knew about Omanyte/Omastar via GameShark 10 years ago in my first “Pokémon Pearl” save file … there was one cheat code that let you modify the Wild Pokémon … that’s how I knew about almost all Kanto mons (including Omanyte/Omastar)
Design: Since day 1, I loved Omanyte’s design … It’s kinda simple, but it’s cool af … And Omastar is awesome too!!!
Masaki Omastar: Years later, when I was starting as a Card Researcher, I knew about the existence of the Masaki cards … Masaki Omastar easily got into my favourite TCG cards
