Hello, I was just randomly checking the population of the 1998 Japanese CD promos, and the population number shocked me. Its in the 4000s for the starters in PSA 10, and 10k overall. Is there a reason why these have been graded so much, personally I woulda thought Base Set Unlimited holos would be graded the most. I think they came in sealed, maybe thats why?
This was done in partnership with the home shopping network and the Media Factory.
We graded and sold all those over a 2 month period which amounted to 16 1/2 hour shows.
It was done in 1999 simply to take advantage of the Pokemon explosion. It was nearly impossible to buy any base set product in most parts of the country so the market was in a frenzy. This helped to relieve some of that pressure to those who could afford it.
An interesting note…the PSA fee was 3.25 per card;)
One more note…one of the cases returned from PSA containing one gross of graded cards(144 slabbed cards) went missing and has never turned up.
I wonder if any of those missing cards have sold over the years! Only thing to go by would be the serial I guess…unless they fell off the plane over bermuda triangle
Sorry Gary but could you please dumb it down and perhaps give a historical context. Maybe I’m missing something but were these Japanese CD promos released in America?
I remember seeing these on TV when I was a kid waiting for school in the morning, I remember the sets being somewhat expensive…Good times. These, beanie babies and those Sports bears that were trying to be beanie babies were on like every morning.
