I got back into Pokemon mid 2019 and started to collect anything and everything my from childhood. From base to skyridge but wasn’t really set based. But just as the boom took off last year found a great deal of pleasure and in my favourite ever sets. Team Rocket and the Vending series 1-3 complete with Masakis and deck memos.
I have completed the vending. So happy, and am very close to finishing my master sets of Team Rocket, Japanese, unlimited and 1st edition. Complete with Dragonite errors and W promos. Just looking for a near mint to mint Dark Blastoise 1st Ed
non holo which shouldn’t be difficult. The arts from both these sets are beautiful too look at as binder collection and get much more joy than slabbed sets.
Moving forward I’m not really sure where to go. But I think shadowless base is where I’m heading
I think the only complete set I have is Base 2 (and they’re in pretty rough condition). Lots of really nice (and expensive) sets in this thread though.
For binders I have almost all full raw sets of 1st Edition Jungle, Fossil, Gym Heroes/Challenge as well as Base Set 2 and Shadowless (mainly excluding holo’s as I prefer graded copies over raw). For graded copies I only buy my favourites from each set and haven’t completed an entire set except for Base Set 2 which I have a mix of PSA 9 and PSA 10s so far as they’re surprisingly my favourite Base Set holo’s as I prefer the Cosmos style holo and I think it looks way better. I’m eventually going to look into more modern cards as I like some of the full art cards and a few others.
Sets I’ve completed or started include Base, Jungle, Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, Aquapolis, Skyridge, Ruby Sapphire, and Team Rocket Returns. I love collecting binder sets, just feels like how I collected as a kid. Long way to go, but I would love to complete binder sets for Base through Platinum Arceus.
