If the economy crashed then none of the cards would be worth anything in the (“fake”) money that we use today. They would still be extremely valuable though, personal value that is for sure. But without getting on that tangent, I respect your opinion on what you think the future holds for newer booster boxes, and I agree with you mostly, but here is something to consider. Whats not saying the kids/teenagers today are not going to have the same nostalgia we have with the WOTC stuff? Or even people my age (I am 22), who knows I may get nostalgia in 10 years for one of the newer sets (even though I have never owned any card in a set made after 2002… my sister has though so I know what they look like lol). But yeah that is just my opinion as well (:
Just because you can ask ridiculous prices from your item, that doesn’t mean people are gonna pay that much by default.
This thing applies especially well with current 1st ed. Neo Destiny boxes, no one isn’t paying $2000+ for item that has sold multiple times within 6 last months for $900-$1200.
You are right, I searched the sold listings for this box once and thought I remembered seeing it sell for a thousand, but I was mistaken and just searched active listings
Not sure if someone mentions this later but whole sale booster boxes are 30 bucks each. They are 75 to 82 depending on what level you get them from a distributor.
1st edition neo boxes are going for a lot because several people are buying them then trying to resell. The 1st ed Neo rev aliens was bout might for 718 then listed at 1200 OBO. The few 1st ed Neo Destiny boxes are gong for 2500, 2222 and 4000. I’m sure cave gamers keeps buying boxes and putting them at 2500. He bought a combo deal of FRLG and TRR from 6 is enough. The next day he was selling them for 1200 total. People keep buying them thinking they can make a quick flip.
I noticed this as well. There are also a few individuals hoarding 1st ED Neo Boxes. I don’t mean anything like the Gold Star hoarding, but I know several who seriously expect them to be over $4K in the near future.
It’s annoying and messed up that people buy boxes then relist them trying to force the market price up. Then people who are desparate or not knowledgeable buy them. Which only reinforces that price.
The other crappy part is I just need 1 1st ed Neo Destiny for my Sealed booster box collection. I’m done for the most part of opening up old school boxes. I don’t feel like contributing more to this open all the boxes on youtube. Except for the newer ones.
New boxes will never hold the nostalgia that older ones do. The wotc sets were released at the height of the pokemon craze. They will always be the oldest and most difficult to obtain.
As for legendary collection, I remember they used to be under $200 consistently (2010). It just recently spiked for some reason. Even 1st ed Neo Destiny used to be only $400-600.
Hey guys old thread. Bought my LC booster box around 4 years ago for $220usd. I had some stuff to pay for last year and sold it for $850 on ebay. Totally regret it now. My collection is fairly large but I find myself searching for another one for collecting only.
