What's your current grail?

This past year and a half has really made me reassess a lot of goals I had pre-2019, so I’m not sure if it’s my “grail,” but certain set completions are a big priority for me right now. I’d love to have all of the original ex’s finished soon, but my overall biggest goal at the moment is a mint copy of the Euro POP Tournament Torchic #006

KD Collectables has one. Hes got a website, shouldnt be hard to locate him. I have no idea for his price…but i can help, hes a guy i work with.

A weird goal I just though of is to have a 12 card page binder and have 24 no symbol flareons just for fun xD

Hey there! What makes this card special and rare? I’m new to E4 and I’m seeing some very cool cards. This one I’d never seen before. I wish you the luck of the sea trying to find this!

My big grail items are all non-tcg. But if I have to pick; I guess the card I’m hunting the hardest at the moment is a PSA 4 Unlimited Jungle Pikachu to finish my 1-10 set.

My #1 current grail want though is a Walmart VHS Display for the first Pokemon Movie. I own the top piece but would love to get the rest of it and fill it with copies of the first movie to make it my collection centerpiece. Love merchandise and promotional stuff from the first few movies.

Is the stamp / year relevant to you?

@tromboneguy360, it’s the only pokemon card officially sponsored by coca-cola

It took me way too long to realize you were asking about historical background and not card art background, I was quite confused since the Chansey is clearly there :stuck_out_tongue:

It is 1 of 7 officially awarded No. 1 Trainer cards featuring a girl trainer instead of boy. There are 3 old back style and 4 e-reader style. I am personally partial to the e-reader though of course would be thrilled with either. This is an excellent guide for further information:

A snap Bulbasaur would be nice.

That is one of the legendary Pokemon Snap prize cards given to the winning entrants in 1999’s Pokemon Snap contest using the N64 video game. There are 10 of them, and they are limited to 20 copes each. Insanely rare, and insanely expensive, and have been for a long time. Azul is among the finest Gyarados collectors in the world and has been searching for this for millennia. Another member here on the forum has one, and was actually his competition in getting that one. Here’s a forum article on it from some years ago:

As for my grail from this set would be Koffing. My overall grail would be a Kang of course, now that I have my Porygon!

On this topic, it was recently confirmed by the Charmander winner that the winners for the contest held by 64 Mario Stadium received 15 copies of their cards not 20. The Pokémon for this are Koffing, Charmander, Articuno, Squirtle, and Chansey. I’m not sure why there was a difference between Mario Stadium and CoroCoro or if was intentional.

We dont speak about those (honestly forgot about them) , considering I cant find anyone collecting Gifarafig atm I think I am safe. If someone does acquire one of the TMB ones I will concede my title…

…And then become #1 collector of another unloved Pokemon. Perhaps Shiftry, Volbeat or Spinda.

I’m at the point in my collection where I have the 10 or 20 rarest publicly-distributed Pichu cards. There are 3 sample cards which aren’t included in that and at this point are probably the only cards I’d be really excited to have in my collection.

The more realistic of the three are the two Japanese cards which surfaced on Yahoo Japan Auctions in 2014:

The one on the left has the dotted e-Reader border and the one on the right has the striped border. These were both demoed at the Tokyo Game Boy Advance Product Announcement Meeting in March 2001.

Then there’s an English sample Pichu card which was demoed 2 months later at E3 Expo in May 2001. This one has yet to surface and most likely no longer exists:

I’m content in knowing I’ll very likely never own any of these 3 cards, but there’s no harm in dreaming.

As a FA trainer collector that 20th anniversary team rocket case would be an absolute gem to own
