Just to update everyone since this thread has blown up, the seller and I have agreed on a partial refund. I’m not sure that keeping this thread unlocked will do anyone any good anymore but if the mods disagree they can keep this open.

In my opinion, and how i treat issues like this, if its my customs, its my problem. If its my import fees, its my problem, if its my mail-man who leaves it at the door when im at work, its my problem. The seller might be generous in refunding you partially, or accepting a return, but if i was the seller i would be blocking buyers who wouldnt take responsibility for their own import issues. If the issues happened on the sellers side of the border its his fault, because he is responsible for following his countries laws, if the issue happens on your side of the border, its your responsibility, because of your countries laws.
(If my mailman leaves a signature required package at the door without a signature, itll be his problem though)
