Where do I stand

I bought a booster box from Japan that had all over the listing that it was 1ed, but it’s not so I’ve overpaid. Want to return it and the seller has admitted that it wasn’t 1st edition. Do I have to pay shipping costs? I’ve already paid customs on the item too so unsure if there’s a way to get that back too?

Too bad that listing wasn’t in our garbage thread.
I don’t have your answer but I’m interested too so I’ll be watching for other replies. Good luck with it:)

From an ethics perspective the seller should pay return shipping and customs should refund you.

Now whether that happens is up to the seller and your local customs department.

EDIT: It is sometimes cheaper to accept a partial refund and then resell the item.

ask for a refund in then difference in price and then resell

What box?

Well i’ve been offered a 30% refund, but i’ve asked for a 55% refund as the 30% doesn’t even cover the customs fees. Will see what they say - I did say i’ll just return it but they’re almost refusing to let me return it…insistent on a refund.

If they are making you feel like a refund is out of the question, I would get in touch with eBay or PayPal before things get out of hand.

True, although now I’ve said I’d accept 55% I’ve probably shot myself in the foot now :slightly_frowning_face:

If you mentioned you’d accept 55% as a partial refund then that means you don’t have to return the item to get it, so eBay won’t screw you for saying that.

just messaged buyer again…they’re now asking for a copy of the customs fee I had to pay so they can assist.

Is there a way I can just escalate this to a claim now? It’s getting stupid…

Update…I couldn’t be bothered with the whole process of sending the item back so have accepted a 55% refund.

They’ve now accepted these terms too…but now I have got this message *face palm*

"In connection to our previous message, our finance team tried to issue the refund, however it seems that the transaction is locked, hence it is not possible to perform the transfer. Could you please check your PayPal account and unlock the initial transaction, so that we could send you the refund as discussed. Please pardon the extra effort, but we hope that the lock can be undone, for us to complete the transaction.

After you could check, kindly inform us about the status, we may then continue in the process. Many thanks in advance for your cordial cooperation. "
