What would you do if you made a big pokemon sale?

Let’s say you, as a hobby collectors get a good offer, maybe $10,000 or $100,000 or even $1 million dollars for a card or collections, enough that you can start your life dreams and do what you always wanted to do. What would you do from there?

By that, I mean once you’ve made enough money with pokemon cards, and money wasn’t an issue, what is your ideal job? Open a bar, a small restaurant, perhaps a franchise fast food chain, gas station, or compete with Virgin Airlines/Space X for space projects? What would you do?! Charizard wrapped lambos is such a playboy mentality but to each their own.

Id buy more pokemon cards :sunglasses:

If I sold my PSA 10 1st edition Base Charizard and PSA 10 Trophy Kangaskhan for $100K+, I’d probably use the money to buy a nice PSA 10 1st edition Base Charizard and PSA 10 Trophy Kangaskhan.

I would do the job I have now and be thankful that I no longer have any worry or stress over money.

Edit: Oh, and I would find more fun in messing around with “modern” and building up a collection again over time.

Buy boxes and to live the dream again

I am not sure why the conversation ties back to profit motive when if you’ve already made a large fortune, and money wasn’t an issue…

You can pursue experiences and work different jobs,go surfing? Maybe start up a high end clothing company, the options are endless. What is the next step after pokemon card goals have been accomplished? Elon was quite the worker, after he had success with Paypal, sold it and now he’s happily working managing Tesla and space projects. He didn’t say make more paypals…

Wait a minute, how many times can you do this if once you sell psa 10 trophy khan for 100k+, you would assume pay more to acquire these very difficult, low pop, highly demanded cards. ?

Dang you’ve got me.

I think I’ll take Option B then - selling all my cards and competing against Space X.

See you on Mars, losers!

I mean you can do what you love… Let’s say you want to stay within the industry, do you start a card grading company to help others in the community appreciate, maybe leave a legacy? It would be fun to own a pokemon museum but I have heard due to the strict pokemon policy, is not likely…

Just wanted to move away from profit driven /price analysis discussions and learn more from the community, what are your aspirations when you have the world ahead of you young folks!

If I no longer had to worry about money, I would still work at my job but would be able to help out my family and friends more. I am pretty content as is, because I can pay my bills and already have my favorite Pokemon cards in my collection so I would just build on that I suppose. I could buy more cards that I would like and go on more vacations with friends and family, so that would be a plus but nothing too extravagant. I guess you could say I’m a minimalist at heart.

Sure, but building wealth is very important and meaningful to many many people. Every wonder why billionaires work until they die?

My life pretty much stayed the same.

The real question here is why does someone need to make a big sale to do what they want in life/make change? The issue there is thinking that money is holding someone back when the reality is, it’s that persons mentality.

There’s an interesting thought experiment where people think what is enough, and for most people they don’t have the answer. For those that do have the answer as soon as that amount is made they find the answer was incorrect. The reason being is the what they value can never be satisfied.

So if you value money, there’s not a single dollar amount that will ever be enough. This goes for other things too. I think a lot of people will realize this better with Pokémon cards. I think many of us would agree that there’s never enough when it comes to collecting goals. Once one is meet another is created.

TL;DR a big card sale won’t change your life. If you want to change your life your desire to change your life is the only thing that will.

I make 1 thread today and its suggested’i’ve made a billizion so far’. Maybe the respondents in the thread do not own or can imagine a card selling for $100,000 or $1,000,000 ; and there is a thread I have called “I like PSA 7” that maybe for you. (which I did not start)

And if that is not of your caliber, I am considering a “PSA 4 is Not that Bad!” Thread, which you all can participate in.?

But for the young holders in the community that can make these sales, I thought this question was great discussion for them as they plan their next monumental steps.

Would be great to hear from entrepreneur folks, I’m sure the forum is crawling with them! (Chumlee is entrepreneur-esque as well)
