What was your first automobile and what did it cost?

Very smart, I have had too many cars, including that Evo X and Evo 8.

I learned to drive in a tractor when I was 5. But when I turned 8 I was allowed to drive our 92 ford f-250 from farm to farm. (Secluded areas, mainly gravel/dirt roads)

I’m not much of a car guy, so as long as it drives comfortable and safe, it’s fine by me. My first card was a white Daihatsu Cuore 2.0 from 2009, which I bought around 2.5 years ago as my first car for 4,200 euros. From the outside it’s a small car, but the sitting space is more spatial than the Fort Focus of my parents… One of my 2 meter tall colleague once sat in the front, and another 1.90 meter colleague behind him still had enough leg space (more than in his own BMW!). It’s just a normal-size car, but with the front and trunk chopped off, haha. I couldn’t even fit more than two bags in the trunk, so I occasionally used the back seats.

Unfortunately someone crashed into me on my second day to our new work location after our company moved last September… One moment we were driving 100 km/h, and the next moment people stood still. Could stop just in time, but the one behind me wasn’t paying enough attention… Here is what it looked like after that…

Drove a rental car for a short time after that (newest Opel Corsa, great car!), and I now drive a Volkswagen Up lease car from work.

Oh, as for the Daihatsu, it was deemed economical total loss (meaning the repair costs were higher than what the car was worth before the crash). I did receive 5,000 euros back from the car insurance, though! Drove with the car for more than a year, and even received 800 euros back for it. My little brother said I should let people bump into my car more often…

Greetz,
Quuador

Mine was a 1977 P.O.S. and it cost $975. The next day I could of sold it for $1000. I should of. Stupid me.

My parents got me a purple 2006 Dodge Stratus back in high school. I think they paid something around $3,500 for it? Served me very well until my dumb ass got in an accident! I miss that car.

This is a great topic. My first vehicle was a 1993 Honda Accord EX. I was 17 at the time with a baby on the way, I needed something reliable so I went with a Honda for $1,300. It was the fancier trim with power everything and a sunroof. I never added strange modifications or anything fancy. I have always enjoyed the boxy, streamline and factory look 90’s cars have. I went through a lot in that car, ALOT. I lost it to the impound 2 years into owning it! Huge noob move, I can only blame it on my lack of integrity.

Long story short I have been collecting ā€˜90’s Honda’s ever since! I’ve currently owned 8 since then and still have 4 of them. It’s kind of funny because that’s my main collection actually; cards being second.

I currently have a 1991 Honda Civic Renaissance Model-X, 1991 Acura Integra RS, 1990 Honda Accord LX and as of 3/13(today) finally and proudly new owner of a 1992 Honda Accord EX in Near-Mint(PSA 7) condition. I prefer keeping all my cars factory, OEM and stock, little to no modifications whatsoever. They hold more value and in my opinion are more aesthetically pleasing. I have an Instagram dedicated to my Honda collection it’s Instagram.com/dusk_oem check it out!

I’m super exited for this one and it is a true dream come true. What a time to be alive, I feel truly blessed. Here’s a picture of my new addition to my collection, meet Brock:

I wish I still had a picture of my actual one… but it was a somewhere between 1995 and 1999 ford explorer, same color and trim model as the picture. I was lucky enough to have had my dad buy it for me and he never told me what it cost. It was nice until I owned it! In true 16 year old hick fashion I hacked the muffler off and left the exhaust open under the cab so it was loud (but sounded horrible) [but I didn’t care as long as it made tons of noise, I loved it!], did burnouts (one tire fires haha) religiously, went mudding every time it rained, did donuts in countless fields everywhere (sorry farmers, I respect your crops now a days), and drifted on every turn of every dirt road I ever took (which was alot, my county has 93 miles of dirt road). I either never changed the oil or didn’t make it to 5000 the mile interval to change the oil, but at 240,000 miles, the transmission blew on MD 404 taking my girlfriend Amy home one evening a couple months after I got it. Man the fond memories I have of that explorer! And in the 10 years since that ive had 13 vehicles and 3 motorcycles. Currently owning 5 vehicles and one motorcycle! Awesome topic OP, it was awesome sitting back and reliving the memories of my old explorer in my head again for a while!

Bought my first car in 1984. Nissan Cherry red (few years old) don’t even remember what I paid for it.

2 Weeks ago I bought a Chevrolet Bel Air 1958, it was a present for my husband.
The older I get the older the cars.

Many years ago, my folks bought me a 1958 Mercury Park Lane. It soon after broke down and I gave it to the town drunk so he’d have somewhere to sleep;)

This is the car but mine was all beat up😩

That is a stellar car! Bonus points for it being a 4 door!

1975 Ford Maverick. It was free from my Dad but it was completely dusted.

I had to redo everything from the engine to bodywork, rust repair. Also did some mods like I added 1970 bumpers and tailights from a mercury bobcat.

Modified the engine heavily, ported 289 heads from a mustang. Crane Cam, Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, Flowmaster 40s. Mind you I was 12 years old at the time so it wasn’t like today where you can order all the parts overnight from Amazon and have millions of tutorials on YouTube, I learned everything from Hot Rod Magazine and Car Craft.

Loved that car, sold it when I got a new house and didnt have space for it.

I really want to get a 60s-early 70s Toyota Corona. I’m also a huge fan of the SHO V6, the old Taurus one, not the modern one in the mustang. I have bought a couple and whenever I find a good body I plan to put it in there.
