What was the first of Pokémon game you played?

Pokemon Blue, I still have the original cartridge and played it on the N64 via pokemon stadium during the pandemic because why not.

Pokemon Red. I chose Red because one of my classmates had Pokemon Blue and we wanted to trade with each other. I think I might’ve chosen Blue otherwise because I like the color blue haha

Gold version for me.

Getting my teal GBC and Gold version for Christmas in 2000 is one of my happiest memories. I remember taking it to school in January and everyone was playing Gold or Silver on their new GBC’s. I still recall not knowing how to catch Pokémon or use the PC storage and my friends having to teach me on the playground. I once deposited my starter Croconaw into the PC and she was locked in there for a few days while I panicked over the weekend because I thought I deleted her… simpler times.

My cousin received Blue as a birthday present and i was a jealous bastard. My mom made me save up for my own gameboy color over summer and what do i select as my first game after months of hard work and envy of my cousin?!

Pokemon Pinball :joy:

Still a fantastic game but it was a misstep at the time for me. Fortunately a few months later Yellow was released and I recieved that as a birthday gift

Pokemon Blue on a floppy disk… yes a floppy disk on a Windows 98 PC. We got it from a neighbour who somehow managed to rip the original game onto a floppy disk that just booted up and had enough space for save files as well. Played it for hours and hours.

Eventually I got a GBC and Pokemon Gold which I also played a lot. My last console/game was a Gameboy SP and Pokemon Ruby and I didn’t play a Pokemon game again after that as a child.

Same here. Mom and grandma picked me up from school one day and had Blue and a purple Game Boy Color to surprise me. I was the first person in my group of friends or at school with a game boy color. Felt like a badass :sunglasses:

Gold and Silver. I was part of the yellow/red/blue generation, but I was late to the party due to household video game regulations.

My first Pokémon game was Yellow version which i played on an atomic purple Gameboy Color.

My best friend in first grade and I used to spend our 45 minute bus ride to school every day playing; I was very lucky to have him to share it with because I had virtually no other friends at the time, let alone any who were into Pokémon. I still have that Yellow cart although I had to replace the save battery a while back so sadly our old save file is lost to time.

Pokemon blue for me. I didn’t even have a gameboy yet but my brother did. The OG big chunky one. My parents figured we would share… I eventually got my own later on. I never finished the game though… I got stuck on some part and for weeks I just couldn’t figure it out. I remember taking the city bus to a game store in the mall and asking them what I was doing wrong and they couldn’t figure it out. I was late to the party and they didn’t have anymore magazines on my version of pokemon. No internet back in those days, or to me anyways. Kinda makes me want to buy it again and finish it. I’m on a mission now! lol

My first game was Pokemon X, I was introduced to the games by my boyfriend at the time. I didn’t grow up with video games so the Nintendo 3DS was my first console, and my mom wouldn’t let me watch the show for whatever reason lol. But for me, X was a lot of fun and I’m glad I’m here now!

Pokemon Red for me! I wasn’t able to get past victory road for the longest time because I had no idea how to move the boulders. Then a friend on the playground told me how to get the HM for Strength. Kids today are lucky that they have the Internet to use when they get stuck.

Pokémon blue. It was right after the special edition game boy color came out for silver and gold. It was my first communion gift from my grandparents. Played that game for hours.

Pokemon Red, and it was one of the first video games I remember playing along with Mario 64. I’d be curious to see the data of the answers here compared to the person’s age.

Pokemon Red.

Was supposed to be a Christmas present but I found it hidden in the laundry room before school.

Needless to say my parents weren’t very happy but they let me keep it. Christmas presents did get a lot harder to find after that though.
