It’s not fake. It’s an English CoroCoro Jumbo card that came with the April 2000 CoroCoro Comic.

And that price of 1k USD is pretty dang high. There are currently also two on eBay for 572.50 USD buyout (also pretty high…) and one for bidding that’s currently at 152.50 USD.

I’m assuming they mean 1,000 JPY rather than USD - which is about $9.50 or so. They’re novelty items and sell for very little in Japan. 1,000 is probably an okay price, but when I’ve ended up with these they’ve been chucked in as freebies with other purchases.

Based on the second picture, it seems to be 1k Canadian Dollars, so still pretty expensive…

I’m also surprised the two on eBay are this high. I saw these sell for roughly 20-30 USD USD on average a year ago… And they were available in Jumbo bulks quite often.

I sold one of these locally in exc - nm condition for 150$ this winter. Waited patiently for over a year to do so, though. They’re really hard to grade, I think the highest in the pop is a 6 or so. I wonder if there’s people sitting on dozens of them in mint condition waiting for the jumbo market to take off ^^
In the old TV broadcast thread I posted, there’s a German employee holding one of them, so they were likely all over the place back then.

Wow. I usually sell them for $20-$30 when I get them.

I think the graded situation is down to the fact that they’re jumbo cards. Ludkins UK charges £8.99 for regular cards but £34.99 for jumbo cards - it’s just not worth me sending any in for that cost as it likely wouldn’t increase the value by the same amount.
