Purchase: PSA 10 Hiroshima Pokemon Centre Gyarados
Sale: PSA 10 English Gold Star Alakazam
Biggest single card purchase was ÂŁ2000 for PSA 10 Gold Star Mew in May 2020. But Iâm a fickle bugger at the best of times - ended up selling it a few months later to spend the cash on JP promos I wanted more
Biggest single card sale was a PSA 9 1st Ed Neo Lugia for ÂŁ4250 GBP in 2020.
My biggest transaction is I had a psa 8 skyridge crystal holo charizard that I traded to someone for a psa 8 shadowless charizard plus he added 2k cash.
I wasnât too particularly attached to the crystal and I had already had three deals fall through for a shadowless zard over the year before plus I bought one that had a major scratch, so I was more than happy to make that trade. Plus the cash helped with a few other collection goals.
My biggest purchase was about a year ago for $3,300. I bought a full holo bleed 1st Edition Base Set French Charizard (Dracaufeu) in a CGC 9.5. Itâs a gorgeous card with the holo showing through Charizardâs body. Itâs now a CGC 10.
Love the foreign language base set cards
Also love the user name
You do not mention the German Black Star Pichu that was given out as winner prizes. I believe it is at least as expensive as the German Birthday Pikachu, no?
It might be equally as rare, but itâs not even close to this price. Rarity != value in most cases. I doubt PichuCollector spend more than a couple hundreds bucks for his copy (when he was still collecting), which he bought around the same time as I bought my German birthday Pikachu.
The Flug-Pikachu and Surf-Pikachu (or Spanish Pikachu Volador / Surfista) which Iâm still missing might be even rarer than the German birthday Pikachu, but I wouldnât be willing to spend this amount of money for any of them.
With these four cards, money isnât really the issue though. Itâs finding them⊠Iâve been collecting Pikachu cards for eight years, and Iâve only seen them twice each. Both in hands of collectors who wonât sell them.
Greetz,
Quuador
Ah, the struggle of finding rare niche cards no one else cares about.
Thanks, it would be interesting to know how much he paid! I know of one private sale last year that was a graded 9 copy for 3k. It makes some sense when you consider that cardmarket ask prices start at 2.4k for raw: https://www.cardmarket.com/de/Pokemon/Products/Singles/Wizards-Black-Star-Promos/Pichu-WP35
I always thought this Pichu was more expensive that the B-Day Pikachu but I think I was just very (!) lucky when I bought the latter for 350 about 1.5 years ago. I know it was cheap but I had it more in the price range of 1k, tbh.
This is exactly the comment you get from an art collector when you tell her you collect Pokemon cardsâŠalways a matter of perspective. For most people, Pokemon is a niche that no one cares about.
Someone snagged mine for âcheapâ compared to recent sales, either way, no one paid close to this when it came out, so I really cant complain
It hurt me to sell my vault, but I got addicted to LorcanaâŠ
Youâre selling your high-end PokĂ©mon cards to buy Lorcana cards?
Yeah, im dumb, but it is what it is lol
Biggest purchase so far, also the second biggest purchase of any one item ever (right behind my car). Card was bought for ~$3300 earlier this year from fellow E4 member shizzlemetimbers.
Biggest sale for ~$2200 in July 2020 (yep, hanging onto it wouldâve netted me another 10k on that one):
I think my biggest single purchase was a sealed Mew ex PLAY promo in 2021. IIRC it cost me ~ÂŁ1750 when all was said and done.
Biggest sale⊠does it count if the âbuyerâ filed a chargeback?
Hoping this will be my biggest purchase soon great card
My biggest purchase was this year at $40k. I shouldâve bought this way earlier instead of focusing on set cards.
Beauty. Congrats damn
