The first Pokemon item I ever got was a Base Set Rattata card that one of the kids in my neighborhood gave to me. When I got home, I was begging my mom to get me some Pokemoncards, and a couple of days later my brother and I got our first (base set) Booster packs!
My brother pulled a Holo Magneton, and I don’t remember what I got as a rare, but it wasn’t a holo. I wasn’t happy about that so I tricked my (younger) brother into trading his Magneton Holo for my Onix, and said high HP was way better. So he’d get my 90 HP Onix and I’d get his 60 HP Magneton.
Honestly my memories of my OWN personal first item are super hazy. My brother and sister both had big collections and they gave me random cards here and there. They would let me pretend to trade when they were trading with friends and stuff haha!
But, my first strong memories of my own items were a holo jungle vaporeon that my cousin gave me. I absolutely adored that card! Then my grandmother bought me a Pokédex as well. Within the timeline though there might also have been one of those big pokeball games with the two orange buttons on the side and you had to hit the red light circles correctly? But that was the family’s, not mine personally.
I had Mew, Venusaur, Charizard Blastoise, Mewtwo, Mewtwo. Mew from was the toysrus giveaway. I had a few mewtwo clones from doing a trade glitch with my brother. I only needed electabuzz to complete the 151.
Pokemon Red or Blue, I can’t remember which I chose, along with a purple gameboy color when I visited Toronto when I was a kid. The gameboy had come out and was cheaper to get in Canada back when the exchange rate was favorable.
I played it the whole time I was there while my parents went around art shows.
Pokémon was my first video game. I saw the game in motion and had to have it. I got a Game Boy Color and Pokémon Red for my birthday and I’ve been ruined ever since.
For as much as I am attached to the card game, I can’t actually remember my first introduction to the TCG. I can remember various key moments in my childhood association with the cards, but not the beginning. My earliest days with the cards are lost to memory.
For me as a child it was Pokémon Yellow on the Game Boy Color! After playing that game and watching the TV show it didn’t take long for me to get into the trading card game. Once I got my first Base Set pack I was hooked for years to come.
First ever? Gba cartridge for Pokemon ruby:)
First non video game object I got after that was a plastic darkrai deck box that was part of a burger King kids meal in 2008. Love that thing a lot honestly.
