I am wondering the best way to extrapolate value from bulk. My time is worth something, so ideally I want to minimize additional sorting.
I have roughly 12,000 non-holo commons/uncommon (no basic energies), 3000 reverse foil commons/uncommon, couple thousand non holo rares, and several thousand holo/reverse holo rares. These are all modern cards, with the average close to 2018-2019. All cards are sorted already by rarity in the respective categories listed in quantities above. Most of the cards are pack fresh, or NM+.
I am able to list to eBay, FB groups, or potentially other platforms.
A couple things I ponder are bulk lot size, mixture (commons/uncommon + x amount of rares, + etc.), grouping of sets/years, and mystery repack ideas (have doubts about how to pull off successfully).
Reason I’m asking you guys is because its quite a daunting/overwhelming challenge to find the most efficient and effective way, and eBay sold listings are everywhere when it comes to bulk lots making it hard to find a specific method.
Yeah, there’s a ton of competition on ebay with the whole “100 card lot guaranteed EX/GX/FULL ART blah blah blah” so it can be difficult to compete. I honestly think selling bulk to a big company like trollandtoad will net you roughly the same amount as those ebay listings (since you won’t have to include the 3$+ ex/gx cards in order to actually sell them) and will save you a ridiculous amount of time and stress lol. You could also try like 1000+ lots with a bunch of low value gx/ex cards (assuming you have some you want to sell) and put them up for auction.
Shipping costs really dont make it worth to sell lots online for me. I only bother selling locally. Otherwise you could sell the whole lot to some place like troll and toad
You can get a premium for pack fresh and sorted by set (non holo C-R), but it might take a bit longer to find the right buyer.
RH would net a huge premium too if you can make a set otherwise I’d list RH and holo as singles. Make sure to set up your eBay so that buyers can pay a combined invoice. Because if they buy 100 singles then 3$ shipping per is excessive.
