What goals have you completed this year? I feel like this was touched upon in the premature 2024 goals thread, however I thought it made sense to create a separate thread to reflect.
My main goal for the year was to get a Ken Sugimori autograph! I unfortunately did not meet this goal but was able to add some great cards to my collection!
Another goal I had was to collect more psa 9 ex cards. I did manage to buy a couple, however I probably only added <5 this year. When i make my 2024 goals I will need to set a better metric.
Got Clean copy of Karen’s Umbreon (now have a clean one and a damaged/scratched up one)
Got Zinnia full arts(including alt art and CSR) in Thai/English/Japanese/(Indonesian only Ray V alt currently, Simplified only Zinnia full art, Traditional Chinese only Rayquaza V alt and CSR)
Got Dendra full arts in Thai/English/Japanese
Got Klara full art in Thai/English/Japanese (Slowly working on getting the rainbows only have in Thai)
Got most/almost(missing TM02 from VS and WCS deck Karen) all Karen cards in English/Japanese/(Thai only have Full Arts and CSRs due to when Thai got introduced)
I had sold a shadowless charizard back in 2021/22 to a card shop. Used the money to buy a card I didn’t like because I got fomo.
Turned out the guy who owned the shop still had the shadowless charizard and ended up trading him the card I bought out of fomo for the psa 8 shadowless charizard I had originally sold to them back in 2021. Got some cash with the charizard in the trade too so it worked out
This card has so much sentimental significance for me.
With that trade I started my shadowless holo set which I’m 5/16 cards in now
I finally completed my first set (ex ruby sapphire) out of my goal of completing all sets from base to power keepers. I’m always jumping around with collecting so it might be awhile until the next set is complete. Although im getting close on neo revelation
as for pokemon, just keeping up with the ARs was my only sort of goal (nothing really too concrete set). however, I did finally pick up the ray star which i’ve been pushing off for a couple years now which feels great.
All Japanese Gold Full Art cards in SWSH in PSA 10
All Japanese CSRs in SWSH in PSA 10 (also had all SARs in 10s, but some of them had debris in slabs and sent back to PSA for reholdering, so I’m not claiming that until I got them back safe)
As for SV-Ps, managed to get the 50-copy Charizard VMAXes from Thailand and Indonesia.
Apparently next year won’t be as fruitful as this year since we’re still in SV year one, but I’m looking forward to see what exciting cards we’re aiming for next year.
Completed my Team rocket 1st edition, finally. Ironically, I needed a “Challenge!” lol. An obvious ultd. card just sitting there for years. ironically, or fittingly named.
I completed 151, and I have to say, that this year, I really got away from collecting. I was focusing more on the investing side, and didn’t realize till 151 that I had strayed from my course.
I’ve done some wonderful things with my MtG Lands collection, however, and I’m eager to share… gotta find a better picture-taking setup first. The same for my artist collections.
But truly, the biggest goal I completed this year was getting my Sec+ and starting work on the new career.
Hi! long time pokefan, renewed collector and new member! after rediscovering my collection earlier this year i have been fortunate enough to complete base and rocket so far this year! i am currently working on neo genesis. happy collecting to all in the new year!
I finally completed my 1999 binder by collecting every set card from Base, Jungle & Fossil via the way nature intended.
Since deciding to complete the original sets I’d started as a child, I thought it’d be more fun to slowly finish them using the same methods we all acquired our cards during the 90’s; trading & random deals that popped up in person. It took so much longer than just outright buying the missing cards (about 7 years), and conditions aren’t all perfect, but it’s been an absolute blast to do, and really feels like I authentically “caught them all”.
Ah, I haven’t been watching for them. I just assummed since a quick search provided staff, top 32, top 16, quarterfinalists and semi-finaiists, that the finalists and champion would be easy enough with time
Thanks! It would’ve been so much less of a slog to just pick up all the missing NM singles online, but it’s nice to feel like I completed the master sets in the exact way that I would have if I’d achieved it all those years ago.
