What do you do with old Plastic Sleeves?

Lets say you bought a collection or some singles and they came in some gross looking plastic sleeves/deck protectors.

If you replace the gross plastic sleeves with your own penny sleeves, what do you do with the extra old sleeves?

Do you 1) Throw it away 2) Repackage it for sales for your own singles 3) use it for commons/uncommons/nonholos?

Just wondering because some of these plastic sleeves are dirty and sticky and probably scratched and light dings. It’s probably not worth rewashing, drying and reusing…

What do you do with the old plastic sleeves? (If you toss the penny sleeves because they are cheap, what about the old deck protectors that you pile? Does it go into another gross pile to store for later?

Same question for old binder plastic sheets to store cards. Or Toploader/Card Savers that get dirty. Do you rinse them under water and let them dry? Since Toploader and Card Saver prices are getting expensive and harder to find, thought this thread would be appropriate.

Lol Gary you didn’t answer me question. I will assume you throw away the old plastic sleeves. Some of us are not as fortunate to have masses of penny and deck protector sleeves.

I’m new, so bear with me

just use them when packaging bulk or something

If I sold bulk, I would not give them plastic sleeves unless it’s for the UR but that’s a good idea! They work great for damaged cards too, sometimes without a plastic sleeve, the really damaged cards want to just crumble away.

Dirty plastic goes in the bin.
I dislike receiving dirty, sticky, creased and scratched plastic, so I assume others do too.

I hope you are recycling.

I like to build an altar to my PSA 7 Clefairy with the dirty plastic.

Some of the less dirty ones I will reuse for selling lower value cards, but I don’t sell nearly enough to use them all up so I have a box full of them lol.

Yeah the really gross ones probably wouldn’t reuse for NM $2 cards even…

I throw them out. But I feel bad it’s been thousands over the years. If they were recyclable that would be nice.

Scuffed? I use them for sales. Dirty/sticky/etc. Bin.

  1. Repackage it for sales for your own singles if they are in decent condition. If they are dirt just throw them to the trash and keep killing planet earth.

Its plastic, why would it not be recyclable? The little dirt scuffs are probably fine…

I think the damaged sleeves are perfect for damaged cards though, paired with a dirty sleeve. It’s beautiful?

Okay, I feel a little less weird - to store away a few old sleeves.

Seriously, stop.

@joakimstore, Don’t worry… it was a quick question, will not be a long thread about plastic

I do this too, as I don’t have much use for them and feel others would have the same lack of appreciation receiving them as I do.

Now how about those Toploaders and some sellers think its necessary to use gorilla tape to seal it?

Do you throw these away or slowly peel the tape off of each toploader? Those are not cheap…

Reusing sleeves can damage cards because they can leave light scratches from gathering dirt or dust. If the sleeves the cards are sent in are nice I sometimes just leave them, Otherwise garbage.
