How do you protect your cards?

I’m ashamed to admit most of my cards are sitting sleeveless. What do you recommend for protecting cards? Penny sleeves? Penny sleeves + toploaders (or cardsavers?) above a certain value? Any type of box? None of my cards are PSA/etc graded.

If the value is > $50 I grade it with PSA to protect it.

Otherwise, penny sleeve + card saver in a BCW box. For my very cheap bulk I just have stacks of raw cards on my bookshelf lol.

Sleeve + toploader + seal polypropylene bag

Oof, this is a question that could get a million different answers. The basic methods are sleeves + binder, penny sleeves + toploader, and penny sleeves + card saver. You can definitely get cards graded as well but I consider that a step above your basic storage methods. Team bags are a solid choice too for your top loaders, you can get some perfect fit ones from superior fit sleeves.

BCW boxes are pretty common for bulk storage. I like to use the ultimate guard arkhive (not sponsored I promise lol) since it fits top loaded cards and it looks nicer than a cardboard box on my shelf.

Value wise, it’ll depend for sure since people are different. Me personally, anything that isn’t a bulk common/uncommon gets a penny sleeve and top loader. You never know what you’re going to do with them so it’s always best to take the time to protect it. Card savers are good too but I’ve too many top loaders to just throw them out haha. Keeping cards in mint condition also leaves open the choice to grade them down the line. Bulk goes in a cardboard box and I’ll trade that in for new boxes when I have enough. For my binder sets, I use a dragon shield sleeve and then into a dragon shield binder. Never double sleeve though some do it. I find it makes my binders too thick and bulky but ymmv.

Penny sleeves and a side loading binder for anything that’s ungraded.

For my main collection goals (Pikachu, Seviper, FA Supporters, etc.):

  • Very rare cards: sleeve + toploader + toploader sleeve + 4-slot page, in an A4 office binder
  • Graded cards: graded sleeve + 4-slot page, in an A4 office binder
  • Regular ungraded cards: sleeve + 9-slot page, in an A4 office binder
  • Jumbo cards: Jumbo sleeve + Jumbo toploader + A4 (1-slot) page, in an A4 office binder
  • Sealed promo cards: toploader the size of a sealed card + 4-slot page, in an A4 office binder

For my general collection:

  • Very rare cards: same as above
  • Any holofoil, signed, and misprinted cards: sleeve + 9-slot page, in an A4 office binder
  • Regular ungraded non-holo cards: 9-slot page without any sleeves, in an A4 office binder

Duplicated cards:

  • Very rare cards: sleeve + toploader, in a box
  • Any holofoil, signed, and misprinted cards: sleeve, in a box
  • Regular ungraded non-holo cards: no protection, in a box

I agree with above but then I put my binders and BWC boxes with toploaders in storages boxes like this www.ikea.com/gb/en/cat/secondary-storage-boxes-10797/ and they are made to store of course but also to keep dust and moist away right ? When it was really hot and I open a storage box put my hand in the air feels different and cooler. Don’t know if that the best way but that what I do.The only thing is I cant fit my big box of common bulk in any as it to wide, but the rest are fine

Right inqore my above quote I seem to have little moulds in my one PSA 10 card it was only 30 pounds. But I was very surprised about how much you can damage it, edges little dots as it can move and now littles moulds.I now think cardboard box will be good enough on its own and binders will be enough in a cool dry place with good air flow,. I kept it high on wardrobe . That might not have helped too.so yh that it lol
