Trophy Kangaskhan would be my choice for $5,000. That’s the one card I don’t have that I should have put the money down on as the opportunities arose, but never did. Although to be honest I only recently decided I wanted to own one.
If I remember correctly the production numbers on the Uni-karp were somewhat questionable, having a very loose estimate of what amount was released. A few numbers were tossed around (100, 150, 1000, etc.) but none totally verified. Scott can say more accurately than I. The Trophy Kang estimate based on information from attendants of the event was more substantiated.
Unikarp had an intended distribution of 1,000. We haven’t seen anywhere near that, but we at least know there are more than 30-50 released as people previously assumed.
Trophy Khan at this point is the front runner for the lower tier trophy cards. It appears less frequently than karp. Keep in mind both are ridiculously rare, but kanga usually appears even less. Also as @jkanly mentioned, the opportunity to buy a copy was a couple years ago. Now Played copies will most likely run 5k. Anything that is even close to NM is well above that mark.
I think for $5k I would buy any old Pikachu trophy regardless of conditions. Realistically speaking they are wayyy over that price now and I’m glad I got mine when I did. I think in today’s prices I would get any new trophy (full art design).
He means PSA 10 Charizards in general, not base set. Like right now Dark, Blaine’s and Stormfront are in a pretty cheap range, all are pretty solid investments.
I think you should look at trophy cards or sealed product. Population reports rise, sealed product remaining doesnt. In fact as population reports rise, sealed product remaining goes down and i think eventually sealed product will be worth far more than cards in contains in psa 10 condition.
