What are your unpopular opinions in pokemon?

multi-level marketing is better than Gate Ruler.

Another unpopular opinion… Those who state people belittle their collections have never been belittled. I have not seen one individual talk down on any other collector’s collection nor their goals. They may disagree with which set is better in their eyes, but that is the extent.

Typically, those with less value in cards are the individuals spreading the negativity. They feel a need to let others know how they think negatively about those with more expensive collections.

Just enjoying a little rebuttal session

@jawsh98 it is probably just indirect “belittling” via lack of praise or likes if I had to guess.

I posted some Pokemon PEZ dispensers to my IG last night and only got about a dozen likes. I could have posted a bad picture of any $1,000+ card and gotten multiples of that many likes and engagement. It is something that totally happens and I knew the post wasn’t going to do much when I posted it, but yeah some people just take their lack of growth, praise, or whatever extent of positive reinforcement they are hoping to get for their collections as a slight and victimize themselves often times. I’m not remotely saying this is everyone or anyone in particular but I know people like this in real life who just like to be victims at all times and there are plenty of them around. Ironically then they’ll be the ones to just like the IG posts of trophies and $100 bills but not my PEZ dispensers :sob: .

I thought those were awesome and would make rather see those than another PSA 9 T17

These are the kind of Instagram posts I like most… cool and obscure cards/memorabilia that I don’t see very often or didn’t know existed. Would way rather see that than the same booster boxes and stonker cards over and over.

The organization of modern English sets is abysmal. Modern Japanese sets are put together with a coherent and meaningful theme, whereas English throws every random card yet to be printed into a massive set without the slightest bit of thought.

The recent trend of 200+ card English sets is such an obvious moneygrab by TPCi. “Buy 100 packs, get a few GX’s, but not the one you actually want!”

I thought this was unpopular opinions

Actually the thread title is reverse psychology and we’re all part of an elaborate experiment.

Box breaks are the Pokemon equivalent of cuckolding and I’d rather spend money hoarding Hidden Fates Golems than buy into one.

Unpopular opinion: I am a big huge fan of regular and full art V cards, but I do not like 99% of most VMax cards at all, and I think the vmax mechanic just feels forced

Totally agreeing with this. I find it ridiculous people actually pay to see others have the fun of both opening the pack, and the risk of how they handle them

Best take I’ve heard in years

This is why I group and organize my English cards by their Japanese sets.

Usually pay more at that, with epilepsy-inducing LEDs, a chat going at 100 mph in the background, and something like this coming through the headphones:

“WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW Congratulations Pokeblaster69420 on Instagram!!! I just pulled you a Charmander and a non-holo Dark Arbok!!! MAN THAT IS SO NICE BRO, some small nicks here and there but LOOKS LIKE A 10 FOR SURE BRO!!! Guys, go check out Pokeblaster69420’s Onlyfans and Clipteez!!!” #investcollect #welcometothefamily #loyaltyisroyalty
