What are your unpopular opinions in pokemon?

Saw this amazing thread that @cpbog1 created and had to comment on it

I don’t believe that Pokémon will last forever as a big multi billion dollar company, everything has to go someday that’s just life,

We are going to use this as the baseline as it’s impossible to know how the market would work so far into the future so we are going to assume that in the secondary market prices go down because it’s a dead company that the majority of people used to care about it don’t anymore

I’m going to talk like option 2 happens

Positives of Pokemon going bankrupt,

  1. People who don’t care about Pokemon if they haven’t left at this point would probably leave because they are only here for the “easy” money and if there is no easy money left they are gone
  2. Singles and bulk would hopefully become cheaper
  3. We get rare cards at a cheaper price that is more affordable

Negatives of Pokemon going bankrupt

  1. Market has lack of stock because nobody wants to sell their “2022 psa 10 moonkitty” that they paid 1k for in 2024 for a cheap price because demand is so low
  2. Lack of people in the hobby leads to dying hobby that has no gamestore running casual games or buying sealed product
  3. Trophy cards and rare niche cards disappear from the market completely as nobody wants to sell them because the prices are to low
  4. TPC of course isn’t printing new products so people trend away from the hobby as a whole and just collecting Pokemon cards becomes a niche in the tcg community

I get that we hate how much popularity Pokemon has now but it could be worse, imagine if Pokemon stopped printing product as a whole I know the market is messed up now but I think I prefer this over a dead market with a dead community, even if some of the community is bad right now there is a lot of people who are good and I think I prefer to have a giant community full with 80%+ money focused and FOMO driven people and 20% who like collecting Pokemon because, they truly enjoy it, even if the majority of that 20% is filthy casual collectors who don’t know the autistic niches of this hobby. I’d prefer the huge community over a tiny community with a few people collecting and there not being anyone locally or many people at conventions that I can talk to and have a one on one conversation with

That’s my unpopular opinion, that I prefer the community big even with all the negitives like it is now over a small dead community that we could have in the future

(Sidenote I’m sorry if my grammars sucks if you need reclarification on something ask and I’ll correct my stupid grammars or spullings)
