Sellers who use far too many irrelevant terms for all their listings. Then your saved search page is absolutely swamped with completely unrelated stuff by the same seller who photos all their listings in the same annoying style.
Put a dash followed by the term you want to exclude from your search. Just putting “-no” gets rid of a majority of these spam results from my searches.
Ghosting people after they dont like something.
People offering to trade their “Pop 1 lowpop beauty” -which is an absolutely irrelevant card- for ridiculous trade values without you ever mentioning that you are even looking for that card.
Putting cards in a penny sleeve and throwing them in a PWE.
Receiving an assortment of food, animal and/or human hair as well as oily fingerprints and other grime with your order.
They cut Psyduck out of Worlds Promos.
Buyers expecting PSA 10-worthy card condition but willing to pay trollandtoad NM prices at 90% exchange rate.
They haven’t though. It’s not been revealed yet.
Here is a window into my world and one of the biggest pet peeves in pokemon:
I’m exhausted at this point pretending the pokemon community isn’t toxic. There is too much drama seeking nonsense like this that just deteriorates what should be people enjoying cards. I put a lot of thought into each video; this one being about understanding and appreciating vintage, especially in a time when modern is hot. These comments come from new content creators who stream their reaction to my video and their followers come and say whatever the streamer said in the comments. I’ve had this happen now multiple times.
It’s gotten to the point where I don’t think this is even a pet peeve, it’s just a problem. This type of stuff makes me want to completely walk away.
Sucks. It was a great video too! The internet was at its finest when it simply allowed nerds to connect to each other over the blogosphere.
Like a wise man once said, I pity those fools. How narrow-minded do you have to be to take time and type out garbage like this. It’s just cringe. I love your content and one thing that makes it so unique is just how genuine you come across. Sorry you have to deal with those little shitheads…
As for general pet peeves:
Truly discouraging and frustrating. Drama and toxicity is a problem that extends way beyond Pokemon. Trick is to figure out where your own personal tolerance is. Sometimes I find I need to step back and run with my Tribe and feel the love, while the chaos of the masses does it’s own thing. Then I can come back to it when I’m filled with the understanding that only comes from like souls.
I’m sorry that’s happening. It’s just not nice and unnecessary.
I don’t want you to walk away or lose some or your passion/love for Pokémon.
There are people who value your opinion and appreciate everything g you do for the community. I think I speak for ally of members here when I say you’re an important and a good part of the hobby,
Keep putting out the videos and let the noise just fly past you.
Oh man if @smpratte is a bag holder in this hobby then sign me the fuck up to be a “baggie”
Sucks a few toxic people have to ruin it. Still lots of people out there who just collect cards for the fun of it
I may have already posted this, but I absolutely hate going on eBay and seeing sellers post a graded card from another company and put “like PSA” or “like CGC” in the ad so that when you’re looking for PSA cards they still come up in the search even if it’s some random backyard grading company instead. I will never buy from a seller who does this. Please do not do this to your ad:
There’s people on social media, and in real life who’s sole being is to bring others down.
Keep up the good work, the silent majority who watch your videos appreciate your views.
I see this regularly in my local community. I can count on one hand the number of people who I enjoy connecting with each time I attend a trade night. Most people are out there looking to make a quick buck or to make their (perceived) social status known.
Places like e4 are shielded from much of this attention seeking behavior and I couldn’t be more thankful for that. There’s a reason why I am on no other social media besides e4.
For what it’s worth I have truly enjoyed watching your videos over the years. I’ve enjoyed hearing your perspective and some of my favorites are when you do the booster box openings (151 was awesome). The genuine enjoyment for the art across all rarities and values is refreshing.
It sucks that dumb people online troll and make stupid comments. Hopefully you get some time to take time away from social media and ignore the idiots.
Thank the Pokemon Gods! It’s a pretty good Psyduck at that😁
