Haha… I can answer this without going to google… I learnt it in ancient history class.
It derives from the greek term phallus, which is a derision to describe the extension of ones… ****************************************************** oh wait!.. just remembered we’re on UPCCC, where things are kept classy, and if I were to mention the next sentence if would get flamed / automatically deleted. good guy @funmonkey54
Oh… I just tried to compliment the point about how if we wrote rude things here on upccc, it wouldn’t get posted. It’s good that that the forum is censored. I hate being on some of the other collector forums, and people swear through their teeth, and talk so much garbage to sound hard. It’s good that upccc stays classy and would block that sort of chatter. Hence why I didn’t go into the ‘details’ of describing what a phallus is haha, because it would get deleted which is a good thing
I’ve known about the San diego 07 card and the the Turtwig 08 New York card + the Munchlax Chicago 09 anyone know how much are they worth individually they don’t crop up too often? Thanks
The Distributor Promos, as they are most commonly referred to, have been an interesting point of conversation for prices. The only two that came up on eBay went for an unknown price, as the listing was ended. Wayne Eggert had been asking $4,000 each for his privately and didn’t find a buyer because that price is ridiculous. He paid $2,300 for both of his, but they weren’t in the best condition. David Persin paid $7.5K for a set of three.
The problem with these promos is that you either buy them in a complete set or you won’t get them all, or at least the chances are very, very slim. I know of two people holding complete sets, one person holding two of them, and one person holding one of them. So the price is likely a touch lower if you only have one, versus having all three where you could likely ask a higher price.
With only 6 of each being out there and 2 full sets in stable homes, the options are slim out there. While there has been a lot of arguing down the price in the past, I know that I’m VERY much looking to acquire these right now and would be willing to pay competitively. So what are they worth? As long as I’m the highest bidder, whatever I’m paying, right?
hahah I shall keep a eye out, their beautiful cards but yes it does sound like an interesting debate, price wise that is, as it’s unknown. And only six? Good luck hun Also I did hear a rumor that the Pokemon Snap cards have only 10 existing cards per art design ? Minus them getting lost over the years etc ?
I think one of the more rare english error/misprint cards is the 1st edition Jungle Clefable thats a non-holo, but is numbered 1/64 on the bottom. Only seen 1 here on this site, and can’t find a listing anywhere on ebay
Let’s all take a second and appreciate this thread, which I found because all of this felt eerily similar and I couldn’t remember why.
(Sharing even though it forces me to recall how much more ignorant I was just a year and a half ago)
I am humbled by the short spurt of quality information that kept coming from members. I’m making a dutiful approach to keep my mouth shut on matters like these in the future until I’ve searched high and low for quality info and facts.
With that being said, a question did pop up in my mind:
Does anyone own a complete set of the Snap cards? My first thought would be Jimmy but I’ve heard he’s only had a few pass through his hands.
Owning a complete set is a daunting challenge. Since there are 10 unique cards in total, the probability of even finding all 10 for sale is difficult enough, and then winning them when they appear is a more difficult task.
Promo_sen had 8 at one time, but she is a seller, and they ended up with multiple collectors. Jimmy had 4 unique Snap cards, and a couple of the Koffings.
The price was $600. It was on ebay for awhile and sold after a couple months. I was reluctant to buy it, as I wanted to feel what true regret felt like.
