Welcome to Elite Fourum Thread

Hi!

My names is Banks. Im a collector from Japan. I grew up with Pokemon and lost my childhood card collection when I went to college. I was fine with it at the time but as an adult I miss the art that I grew up with and I’m trying to replace my collection.

I’m a fan of the smpratte YT videos and they brought me here. I’d like to make friends who share my passion for pokemon cards and learn from everyone here.

If you have questions about the Japanese market (yahoo auctions or mercari) please ask.

Many friendly greetings!

Welcome, Banks! Look forward to seeing you regain your collection and see what that consists of. I’ll be heading to Japan in July so might reach out to see if you have any recommended places to visit for card hunting. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time on e4.

Thank you for the welcome!
Yes, I recommend visiting “hobby off” stores or “book offs” in rural Japan. Everything else will be optimized but you can find deals in the countryside. There’s still some first edition floating around. Like this ninetails I found for 55 USD.

Welcome, @BANKS ! Glad to have you here. And always nice to see another old school JP collector. (Though I’m not japanese myself, a friend from Japan started me collecting with all the JP sets.)

That one I did look up.

JP vingtage so good. The gradient border really frames the cards beautifully I think

Hiii I’m Kalei but you can call me kale… I’ve been collecting since 2012, when I opened my first pack I got white kyrurem ex, which of course got me hooked. I had a decent collection until I changed guardians and they made me give them away :sob::pleading_face:. However in 2019 I was able to get back into the hobby, and now I collect graded cards, make binders, collect etbs (I’ve got like 75) and I collect plushes and also play yugioh. My favorite pokemon is Pheromosa. Nice to meet yall! :3

Welcome @Pheromosa ! It’s sad to hear your original cards were taken from you but it sounds like you overcame that and have built an impressive collection. I look forward to seeing more of it.

Welcome! Glad to have you. 75 ETBs is impressive! What kind of binders do you curate? Best of luck with your collecting and I hope you have a great time here in the community.

Right now I have a binder for modern pulls (all my sword and shield stuff) then one for my black and white/XY and sun and moon era cards, then another one for my older pulls, but I just recently bought a 1040 card binder with 16 pockets and 24 pounds of unsorted cards and loads of singles that I’ve yet to go through, so I’m thinking of making a mega binder to store it all in. If I were to make a binder for a whole set it would be crown zenith/vstar universe for modern, if I had to chose an older set I’d want a complete set of fossil.
