I’m starting to refuse negotiations with people who are more of a time waster type. Responding with “whats your best price” among other things aren’t even the trigger for me. It’s talking without offers being involved. When you reach a certain point in sales you dont have time to tip toe around. Simply offer up and move on from there.
That’s disappointing that people just try to take down the listing. I use the best offer a lot and I usually offer the last sold auction price and no I don’t pester the seller if it’s declined.
Ebayer: what’s the cheapest?
Me: 1200.00
Ebayer: but you have it listed for 1000.00
Me: Oh shoot. My mistake. Sorry. Okay, you can have it for 1000.00.
That’s something I don’t really get. If I buy an item, regardless of price, I pay right after I purchase it. If you don’t have the money to spend, why buy it in the first place… I mean, I can kinda understand with these multi-K items if you for example get your paycheck the next day or so and are afraid of missing out during those 24-36 hours (given the rise in prices right now, that’s understandable). But in general, especially for low amount values, why would you ever wait with paying to begin with?
And I agree that it’s very admirable you respond to every single message, @cullers. If you got all these messages in a week time, and it’s similar almost every week, that sounds like such a pain… Not sure what can be done about it though. I thought about a default copy-paste message, but that would probably take longer than simply stating “no” to any “can you go lower?” / “are you willing to take X for Y?” messages…
Had someone offer 40% off an item yesterday, I didn’t counter because, lets be honest we aren’t making a deal. He responded with, “Not even going to counter?! SMH! Don’t you even want to sell”. I let him know nicely I didn’t counter because his offer wasn’t serious enough to get a counter, he then countered with $1.00 and said, “Here is your counter asshole”. To which I declined, because the best way to get something from someone is to insult them. He then sent a $2.50 offer and told me to, “Look at the sold listings retard!”, so I blocked him. Not 2mins later I had an offer on the same item from a 1 feedback seller, about $10 higher than his offer, wonder who that could be!
He is the “what is the lowest you will go” type of guy. BUT CASH IN HAND!
I will say this. While I’m sure it’s frustrating to have people offer lower than listed price. I can’t fault someone for asking. Now if you have it in the ad, that you won’t accept less, that’s different. But if not, its safe to assume people will offer less. I’ve actually gotten to a point where if I list something, I list it for more than what I would accept. Because people seem to offer me closer to what I’m willing to accept with more frequency.
I have scored some major deals, asking if someone would take less than asking. For all I know, they need to sell it ASAP to pay rent or buy another card.
I usually just raise the price and make the lowest possible offer my original price. Also I do not respond to the 1/3 of the price lowballers. Nice of you to take the time to respond cullers.
Moved out here in August. Got to experience the record highs and every time I tell people that have lived here their whole life I moved out here for the weather they tell me I’m crazy.
I actually though about using the faq function that allows the question to be posted on the bottom of the listings page, but they all sold off in time.
Not too many questions on that one. Low grade charizards are really my only high volume questions cards. I get this question from other items, but not 21 times in a week.
