I may be behind the eight-ball here; but I have noticed that eBay changed around the Pokemon Category within the past few days / week without actually informing anyone - but that is a whole different topic! LOL
As mentioned earlier, eBay no longer offers a free “Gallery Plus” option - not really a big deal aside from that fact that I paid my eBay Bill one night and woke-up to a new $50.00 Bill the next morning - luckily an eBay Rep. took care of that for me! Aside from that, eBay changed around the eBay Category for Pokemon: Toys & Hobbies - Collectable Card Games - Pokemon Trading Card Game - Pokemon Individual Card. They also made “Condition” (New/Used) a mandatory option - you can no longer list / edit without including this information. Finally, there is a new “Item Specifics” section (optional) that goes into A LOT more detail compared to the old-system.
Currently, I have “Gallery Plus” turned off, I have listed / edited all my items as “Condition: Used”, and I do not have any “Item Specifics” within my eBay Listing(s). I am wondering if my lack of “Item Specifics” is causing a problem with eBay or something…
Without getting into specifics, I have been selling at least $100.00 / Day on eBay for the past month. However, over this past weekend (Saturday through Monday Holiday) my only sales were via Auction I had ending over the weekend. Today (Tuesday) I have not sold a SINGLE ITEM and/or received ANY Best Offers / Messages (VERY UNUSUAL).
Am I just having an unusually slow weekend / day on eBay? Has anyone else noticed a decline in eBay Sales?
Would love to hear from other eBay Sellers on how their sales have been this past weekend / week - as aside from my Auctions that ended over the weekend, my eBay Sales are non-existant…
Interesting. I’ve noticed the same. My sales have been sluggish even though I have more items (competitively priced) than ever. I thought it was just me.
Yep, same for me as well! I’ve got a couple of complete 1st edition sets listed (jungle + fossil), which got loads of attention a month ago. Their listings ended and since being re-listed they haven’t really had much notice. Crazy! I was thinking it might have something to do with the upcoming set release, which people are saving their money for…?
Well, I am glad to hear I am not the only seller on eBay who has noticed a down-turn in eBay Sales! LOL I usually go to the Post Office Monday through Friday and drop-off 10-15 packages; I did not have ANY to drop-off this morning…
I am not sure what is causing this down-turn; hopefully it was just the long weekend (U.S.) or something along those lines! Hoping that sales will start to pick-up again soon as we approach everyone’s favorite time of year (CHRISTMAS)!!!
I think it may also be that the search results have been acting buggy as of lately. Older listings I had don’t show up for me even though they ended less than 3 weeks ago. i do think it may have more to do with eBay than a lack of interest.
Something really odd going on with eBay search results. Items I relisted yesterday didn’t appear in search results until around Noon today. Something in their search algorithm must have changed.
I have had to modify and supplement many of my buying searches to add in other terms or change things around as I noticed specifically my pokemon booster box search was missing tons of booster boxes. I have no idea why, but the or function which I frequently use (“X”, “Y”) searches for “X” OR “Y” hasn’t been working very well at all. You can search for Pokemon “X” and get 500 results and then Pokemon “Y” and get 500 results, you should have to get at least 500 results and as many as 1,000 results (if there is no overlap) with Pokemon (“X”, “Y”), but sometimes I am getting only 2-300 results with it.
This is definitely due to the change in eBay’s search algorithm. At least on my end any pokemon card search uses the “Toys & Hobby - Individual card” result as the default. I have to click “All” for some searches, never had to do this in the past.
Also, unfortunately they require a condition of either “New” or “Used” for individual cards under the “toys and hobbies” category. In my opinion I think this is severely flawed. First, the proper condition for most graded cards is “unused”. Second, there should be an option to choose the grade or condition for the “condition” category. Most high graded cards, or even ungraded nm-gem cards, are unused.
Basically these two factors are going to decrease visibility. I think it will make the “New/Used” condition standards completely useless and arbitrary for individual cards as those terms do not properly describe condition.
