Updated Beckett Labels

From Beckett’s X post:

With a significant investment from Collectors, our new look and new label are just the beginning of the meaningful changes this community deserves.

And from their home webpage:

I think they look nicer! The security features is a big upgrade imo as well.

They do look nicer. The font and print also looks a bit cleaner.

They managed to update them without ruining them. Most impressive.

No april fools day this time! lol

@silversnorlax204 agreed, the inconsistent font size and alignment was a pet peeve of mine..

Did they give a timeline for rolling out the new labels?

About time they combined the auto grade with the main card grade label. Always hated having two separate labels on the same line in the slab.

Nothing yet. Earlier in the year, Nat mentioned they wanted to update the BGS label, add scans, and add vault/selling services. He only said the labels should be released in Q2 but didnt give a timeline for everything else.

they should make the slabs easier to crack. Thatd be a nice change

Good to know. I’ve got an order literally in the labeling stage right now, so I should be able to report back if they’ve started using them soon lol.

Let us know!

Also to clarify, I meant to say the labels would be “revealed” in Q2 not “released”, apologies for any confusion.

Will the labels actually sit in the holder as intended? Beckett is the only grading company with loose labels. It’s clearly a case design issue.

The giant BECKETT on the back is hideous.

Supposedly but I didn’t see it specifically mentioned on their website or their video, which I recommend giving it a watch if you’re interested.

With the right technique, you can already crack a BGS slab every 12 seconds

much needed change

Good call to keep the label just about the same and not touch the grading scale. I think the security features on the back look nice too. Long overdue.

Looks like they took a cue from the CGC pristine labels and made the 10 on black labels a metallic gold

Personally these are meh updates. Nice to have but marginal gains.

It’s not going to move the needle for BGS.

-> They need to update the grading scale:

Move BGS 9.5-> BGS 10

Cut Pristine 10s

Keep BL 10s

Why?

They need a more obtainable 10 grade for vintage and modern submitters just want BL10 anyway, so P10 is sort of irrelevant.

P10 let alone BL10 for vintage is almost impossible anyway, and modern just want the BL10 gamble, so why keep it?

CGC did this change and their submission volume rocketed.

-> Scans for all submission tiers

-> Faster turnaround (use AI to aid this, Beckett WAS investing in AI before the old owner of their holding company was arrested and even before TAG was a fart in the wind)

-> Consistent grading in Europe. BGS Germany is a joke with a grading scale that is basically 0.5-1 grade harder than USA.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hear hear, their grading scale is fundamentally handicapped and nothing will truly improve until they pull that ripcord.
