UK Grading Company PGC Grading Their Own Cards

Not bidding or buying this. But curious if this is fake. Seems to be a bunch of these popping up almost every other week.

As people mentioned a couple days ago when you asked about a PGC card, PGC is a scam company, it is only used by the owners to grade their own cards and then sell them. You can’t submit yourself.

The card itself might be authentic, but maybe it has a fake 1st edition stamp or was a cracked PSA 5 that they put in a 10 case. Maybe it’s kurt’s kard splooged or inked in order to hide flaws. You can’t trust a company whose sole reason for existence is to lend a sense of fake legitimacy to their own cards.

On your saved ebay search, you can remove PGC.
The minus in front of the keyword removes it.

Thanks for the reply guys. I gust couldn’t figure out what was up here. Card looks good from pics but pics are very carefully presented. No clear shot. So could be what was said above.

If anyone has ever bought one of these 10s I would love to hear what it actually looked like once you got / cracked.

Thank you for this. We sold two this past week for thousands, will be refunding and sending back as now got a bunch more of high end 10s and really raised a red flag to look this up on E4. I also notice a bunch of other consignment places selling them.

Saw @TCAGaming listing some on consignment as well. Rusty, you may want to follow James’ footsteps and create a united front against PGC and their shady practices.

Is there a thread addressing the information given about being a scam and grading their own cards?

I bought one of these (not from you) a few years ago and it was by far the worst piece of crap I have ever owned. I think James is right to just not wanna touch these things

I was wondering why there were so many 1st Edition Lugias in 10 grades from this “grading company” floating around lately.

Once again, E4 coming through with the save.

This thread here details the evidence against PGC. It’s a bit old so some links are out of date, but effectively there were a couple eBay sellers selling large numbers of PGC graded cards located very close to PGC’s registered company address in the UK.

If you try to go on PGC’s website to submit cards: Submit Your Pokemon Cards for Grading - PGC and click the links to submit, you get a 404 error.

A grading company which the public can’t submit cards to but still manages to grade a large amount of rare vintage cards in high grades is very questionable to me. I think consigning or selling these slabs opens yourself up to a lot of risk.

I’ve dealt with a similar company in the sports sphere, GEM grading, a company that only grades the owners cards, and has been accused of trimming cards to improve the apparent condition (which I can verify after cracking open 2 slabs and measuring the dimensions of the cards). If PCG cards continuously appear to have great corners/edges, I think it could be really interesting to crack a few slabs open and measure the dimensions to determine if they have potentially been trimmed or altered.

Yes all the backs and edges and corners look clean.

Some more evidence of a bogus “10” the front looks kinda clean from the pics on eBay. Sold for £770

I appreciate the information!

The ones I have were personal purchases from last year, so they were easy enough to just remove. I plan to crack and see what happens on a resub. These are the only cards I can remember ever dealing with from this company, so definitely not worth messing around with

Sadly they have flooded the market and are taking advantage of a lot of people who don’t know any better.

It’s been speculated that they do grade their own slabs.

I would absolutely avoid.

If you do decide to crack and resub to PSA and are comfortable sharing the results I’d be interested in seeing how these do. A lot of PGC slabs on the market tend to be cards that are insanely hard to grade in a PSA 10 (T17, Neo Genesis Lugia), which I assume is part of the reason they’re chosen for that 10 premium.
